Michael K (us) wrote: Moran??s film adaptation of his own stage play is wonderfully entertaining and one of the most enjoyable music biopics I have seen in recent years. Centering around a brilliant lead performance by Con O??Neill as Joe Meek this grabbed me right from the start with its mixture of comedy and sense of pop culture history. I??ve been a distant fan of Meek since a BBC documentary about him years ago and the contradiction of a drug using homosexual producing Margaret Thatcher??s favourite single. The first half of the film is tremendous and you??re really dropped right into the thick of Meek??s home recording studio, taken along with his maverick approach. As the film progresses, so the psychological aspects of it come to the fore and although the final third doesn??t match the other parts it is still nevertheless delivers a great little music biopic.

Jacob B (kr) wrote: F+If the lines, choppy editing, terrible acting fit for a 'MST3K' commentary and bad CGI effects make you want to roll your eyes and toss this movie in the trash, you're not alone. I give this movie a thumbs up for trying to compare to the game and the first 'Mortal Kombat' which was actually praise-worthy for its effects, characters and martial-arts. But 'Annihilation' is a pass. Also the violence is unbearably sanitized making me wonder what an R-rated 'Mortal Kombat' would have been like.

Steve R (ca) wrote: I understand during the making of this film the roles of Myrna Loy and Jean Harlow were originally cast opposite but the success of The Thin Man caused the producers to reverse the roles. Myrna Loy is her ever beautiful and charming self, Spencer Tracy is the weak link in my opinion but I would recommend this film
Bradley H (nl) wrote: It is certainly after an interesting observation about romantic relationships, but the premise it chooses to utilize never feels more than half-baked. But the performances from the leads are enough to keep the viewer engaged and amused, despite the annoying developments in the plot.
