Norman F (jp) wrote: Best feel-good movie I've watched all year. It's genuinely funny and more importantly, void of cheap laughs. An absolute masterpiece.

Collin P (br) wrote: A new, fun and original idea, Looper is fantastic from the minute it starts until it ends even if it does follow one huge cliche in the middle.

Winnie T (kr) wrote: You need to watch it with a thinking mind and piece the jigsaw together.

Serge L (ag) wrote: Very well made film with a complex and excellently well crafted narrative. We feel the struggle and the difficulty of fighting a well encroatched tradition. With little girls involved, the suspense is maintained throughout, more efficiently than any large budget feature. Knowing that these events were depicting something real and realistically, it is even more gut wrenching. The film expose well the problematic of societal changes, by which I mean the view points of all sides are well exposed and understood. The film was the base for increased discussions with the goal of eradicating the pratice. I hope this is accomplished now.

Norman F (ca) wrote: Rory Culkin literally carries this melodrama on his back.

John M (ag) wrote: Easily one of the best films of the last twenty years. What raises You Can Count on Me above almost every other character-driven film of its kind are the quietly beautiful performances of Linney and Ruffalo. The genuine affection the characters have for one another is so expertly played out with humor, pathos, and anger that you don't want the movie to end. Kenneth Lonergan has crafted a masterpiece of emotional impact and resonance on par with the likes of Five Easy Pieces and Ordinary People.

King L (au) wrote: Extremely long movie about a private investigator who searches for a missing girl in the dark and seedy world of extreme hard core pornography. Nicholas Cage is very good in this role.

Scott M (de) wrote: A tragic film that cost the careers of three great men.

David M (it) wrote: Highly anticipated prior to release and ultimately a superior disappointment.

James H (ru) wrote: Platoon is one of the greatest war films of all times with great performances from Charlie Sheen, Willem Defoe and others which creates very likeable characters. The score for this movie suits it perfectly and the narrative and journey you go through with these character is heart breaking and worryingly realistic. Superb!

Bill C (it) wrote: A workmanlike glimpse into the parallel universe of the Wall Street wealthy. Richard Gere, Tim Roth and Susan Sarandon are exceptionally persuasive professional actors - surrounded here by a well directed and experienced supporting cast. Stuart Margolin, Reg E. Cathey and particularly Tibor Feldman are especially effective in small but important roles.

Oliver N (jp) wrote: Undeniably a step backwards from the near-perfect 'Goldeneye,' yet still extremely thrilling, it does fall back occasionally on Bond clich, which leaves us as an audience Shaken by the stunning action, but not necessarily Stirred on an emotion level that it's predecessor manages to capture to perfection.Verdict: B

Ben L (ca) wrote: We Bought a Zoo is a movie that seemingly takes no chances. It feels like they were content with making a movie in a familiar style and not stretching to make anything special or unique. The plot is nice and simple, and the fact that it is based on a true story gives it some extra impact. However, it was another reminder that I think Matt Damon is an average actor at best, because he never manages to get me emotionally invested in the story. Everything in this movie was kind of by-the-book and extremely predictable. This is the kind of inoffensive family movie that will draw in large audiences by simply doing what everyone expects. Just looking at the poster for the movie is enough to tell you everything that will happen in it, and believe me when I say it delivers on its promises. If it looks like a movie you and your family might enjoy, then it will be. If it looks like a movie you would hate, then you probably will. The only surprise in the film is how heavily it focuses on grief and loss. The setup is all about a husband who lost his wife, and how difficult it is for him and his kids to move on, but if you know that going in then there are no surprises left because even that plot-line plays out exactly as you'd expect. For me it was an OK film, but not one I'll ever need to see again.
