Exorcist II: The Heretic

Bizarre nightmares plague Regan MacNeil four years after her possession and exorcism. Has the demon returned? And if so, can the combined faith and knowledge of a Vatican investigator and a hypnotic research specialist free her from its grasp?

Dr. Gene Tuskin works with troubled children, perhaps none more troubled than Regan MacNeil, who suffers from bad dreams and repressed memories. The memories she represses are of the time she was possessed by a demon. Dr. Tuskin's invention, a device that hypnotizes two persons and links their minds together, reveals that the demon, named Pazuzu, still lurks within her. It is desperate to emerge again and wreak havoc. Meanwhile, Father Philip Lamont is ordered by his cardinal to investigate the death of Father Merrin, the priest who died while performing an exorcism on Regan. Father Lamont undertakes his task reluctantly. He feels unworthy of his assignment. He also feels that Evil is literally an entity and that this entity is winning the battle over Good. His investigation takes him to Africa where he locates another recipient of Merrin's exorcising and learns something fascinating and terrible about locusts. . Lawrence L (de) wrote: Ok I'm not sure if this is fair review or not because I didn't finish watch the film, but I'm only judging the english dub version. I only went a few minutes in the film but couldn't stand watching the rest of it due to the english dub, it's so bad. English dubbed movies take so much out of the performance of the actual actors on screen, they literally suck the life out of the characters and completely spoil the performance and the movie watching experience. I prefer to watch foreign films with subtitles because when you hear them speak their language you know how the characters suppose to really be and what the actors are trying to convey. Dubbed movies don't do that, they kill the performance. I would have liked to have seen this film with subs but it wasn't available at Amazon instant video. Any way I don't think the english dubbed version of this film deserves any stars but I'll give it one since I'm felling charitable. It's so unbearable to watch but Still a Jackie Chan Fan

Elise C (jp) wrote: An unconventional love story, that is both very funny and heartwarming. It's all about the value of family and friendship. I did not expect the climax to drop on me like it did. Reminded me of Ghost World and Harold and Maude.

Jens S (au) wrote: Unnecessary remake that is still somewhat entertaining during the set-up but totally falls apart during the infamous prom scene. Even the great Chloe Moretz feels oddly out of place channeling X-Men gestures as she is laying waste to the small town. There is nothing scary about this film except for her mother's religious fanaticism. And the final anti-mobbing statement feels really dumb.

Brad S (jp) wrote: Not great, but it has a few laughs. The more you like Craig Robinson, the more you'll get out of it. The best part is the cameo which s great comedic actor playing God, inspired casting. Lots of familiar comedians in supporting roles. Watch if I mood for something silly.

Armando B (gb) wrote: I think this movie was okay, it's not a movie I would buy because its not convincing. Julia Roberts plays her part well and its believable, the book was much better and way more detailed, if you seen the movie, you owe it to yourself to read this book. If you liked the movie read the book to get an entirely different and nuch better form of the main plot. If you hated the movie, read the book so that you think how the movie should have been. As that being said for this being a solid movie with a solid performance from the main actors, I give " Sleeping With The Enemy " a C.
