Extreme Private Eros: Love Song 1974

In 1972, Miyuki tells her ex-lover Kazuo that she's going to Okinawa with their son. Kazuo decides to film her. He narrates his visits to her there: first while her flatmate is Sugako, a woman Miyuki is attracted to; then, while she works at a bar and is with Paul, an African-American soldier. Once, Kazuo brings his girlfriend, Sachiko. We see Miyuki with her son, with other bar girls, and with Sachiko. Miyuki, pregnant, returns to Tokyo and delivers a mixed-race child on her own with Kazuo and Sachiko filming. She joins a women's commune, talks about possibilities, enjoys motherhood, and is uninterested in a traditional family. Does the filmmaker have a point of view?

Maya B (ag) wrote: Okay, this movie isn't going to win any oscars. However it makes a super great drinking game. And well it is a totally abnosome movie. Totally a cult classic. REMEMBER: It was a ROBOT HEAD.

Jason R (nl) wrote: only finished the 1st two hours and what a bore. At least 25 minutes of scenes of a snow storm are interwound into some dull, violent/gore scenes that are nothing new or original. Only the last 10 minutes of the 1st side were different- involving a nude blond woman and some oddly placed cockroaches. I doubt I will waste 2 more hours on the 2nd part.

Peter F (kr) wrote: The film that made sure Kar Wai Wong was certainly an auteur. To call the plot structure unconventional is an understatement, as it seems purposefully messy. Instead, Kar allows his cast and heart-beating scenes to convey a mood and thematic sense that makes Days of Being Wild an intriguing jumble of love, detachment, and mystique. Hong Kong arthouse cinema wouldn't have been the same if not for this film.

Rudy A (nl) wrote: A beach volleyball flick with a hackneyed plot. Yet, the film can be appreciated by the fans of the sport.

Roy S (mx) wrote: The story is a tad silly, but the nostalgia value is off the charts. It is an extraordinarily 80s movie where no problem can't be solved or situation made better as long as there is a rock song with a driving beat being played in the background. If this does not sound like fun, this movie is best avoided.

James H (de) wrote: Routine Goldie Hawn comedy, predictable with some laughs but not enough of them. Fair supporting cast, Swoozie Kurtz comes off best. Likable film, but forgettable.

Ben C (au) wrote: Just another reason to love these anthology movies. A particularly good entry into the genre, Peter Cushing is fantastic as always, David Warner gives a solid performance.

Michael T (jp) wrote: Long, emotional Japanese melodrama.

Don S (ru) wrote: Low budget doesn't bother me, but bad acting and bad writing do. The entire premise is shaky and hard to believe from the start - the kid knew it was his dad, so what was the big trauma? Later, we have a scene right out of a medieval period piece with the "villagers" brandishing torches and chasing the villain through the streets of town. Effects are about what you'd expect on this budget; actually, that's being generous on my part. This is just lame.
