(ag) wrote: The worst movie ever, I mean ever. I am sorry for even almost finishing it. To think Warner Brothers is associated with yet it managed to go so wrong is just a shame. The story line is pad enough, then comes the visual effects. Very terrible, very annoying.

(fr) wrote: Good cast and promising opening quickly falls flat as it swings from comedy to thriller and back. Based on the life of famed british drug dealer Howard Marks the story unfolds pretty much A to Z and without any real drama moving things along, tries to hard to end each scene with a gag it gets painful towards the end.

(kr) wrote: This film is very near and dear to me. I know it's not a good film, but when this film came out I was 11 years old, my best friend James and I were beyond excited to see this movie as we were big Resident Evil fans, and I can't count how many times we watched it together at his house and mine. My bestfriend James passed away in 2010 and the first Resident Evil will always hold a special place in my heart. It is pure nostalgia to me and I absolutely love it. I know its flaws, but I don't give a damn. I love it because of the memories I had with someone who left a great impact on my life.
(es) wrote: I love the film, I loved the characters, I admit after 10 years of SG1 I not so keen on Kurt Russell / James Spader in the roles but at the time they did a damn good job I can watch this film over and over and over and never get bored.
(es) wrote: One of the first films produced about the American war in Vietnam. I remember it making headlines in 1978, not due to it's merits but to it's shortcomings. Audiences were staying away in droves because it was centered around a very unpopular war that had only recently ended. Also, Vietnam veterans were complaining that it was unflattering and unrealistic. I'd group it with other films of the era like The Green Berets or maybe Go Tell the Spartans that are courageous but not completely honest. A group of films produced by activists, not soldiers, that are more about politics than actual events.
(ca) wrote: Great performances, suspenseful premise, but I feel like it chickens out at the end just a bit. The climax is a great work of acting craft but perhaps not as exciting as the rest of the film. Not sure if that's a bad thing.
(us) wrote: It had some funny scenes from W.C. Fields, but the movie as whole was not very interesting.
