Engaging, emotional and riveting, FAREWELL is an intricate and highly intelligent thriller pulled from the pages of history— about an ordinary man thrust into the biggest theft of Soviet information of the Cold War. Ronald Reagan called this piece of history - largely unknown until now - “one of the most important espionage cases of the 20th century.” FAREWELL begins in 1981, after the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. A French businessman based in Moscow, Pierre Froment, (Guillaume Canet) makes an unlikely connection with Grigoriev (Emir Kusturica), a senior KGB officer disenchanted with what the Communist ideal has become under Brezhnev. Grigoriev begins passing Froment highly sensitive information about the Soviet spy network in the US.

He shows a love/obsession that is usually not able to be seen onscreen. The only part I wasn't a fan of was the narration, which took a lot away from the viewing experience. However, it was a small price to pay for an otherwise flawless debut.

Walken really should have won another supporting actor Oscar for this role. He nailed this role so good and is so perfect in this movie. This also has a great supporting cast and classic of a theme song by Madonna.

Instead they try to kill (while they walk underwater) the men trying to get the diamonds in diving suites. Then when the men get the diamonds, they try to take them again, until the wife of one of the zombie sailors drops them off the boat dock into the water again. Then, they magically disappear into dust. Not even fun in a bad movie way, with one exception. One of the diamond hunters wife becomes a zombie (don't ask how), and in trying to stop her from killing some crew members, one of them beans her in the head with a candelabra, complete with a 'boink' sound -- remember bullets don't kill zombies, so why not bean them with stuff ;)
