It was quite slow between the beginning slaughter and the climatic car chase ending. The majority of the laughs come from stunt lady, Zoe Bell, playing stunt lady Zoe Bell.

Christopher B (kr) wrote: Typical 1980's action flick with mildly inspired action scenes & cinematography. Wait.... - this is a 2006 film! Still, the chick looks a bit like Salma Hayek or Susan Lucci. Easy on the eyes & on the mind.
Andrew K (gb) wrote: An immensely creative and entertaining (albeit frequently idiotic) movie the likes of which we may never see again. Mad props go to the special effects and costume artists.
Adam B (it) wrote: This is the movie that earlier dreck Harry's War shoukld have been. James Garner plays a tank commander guy who gets back on a crooked town sherriff using his personal tank. Silly flick that never should once take itself seriously, and doesn't.

Art S (au) wrote: At first, it's a prison flick with all the inmates singing about the freedom they don't have. We see two of them plot their escape - but only one of them makes it. He manages to work himself from street busker to factory owner in a quick montage. His factory makes phonographs. When his old cellmate appears working on the assembly line (later ripped off by Chaplin, although he settled the lawsuit without admitting it), the boss thinks he is about to be blackmailed. But instead, his friend just wants help winning the girl of his affections. It doesn't work and soon a gang of crooks really do appear to blackmail the boss. In a twist that might only work in the France of the time, he abruptly donates his factory to the workers, let's his money blow away in the wind, and hits the road as a tramp with his friend. So, this makes it something of an anti-capitalist piece but blink and you could miss it. Renoir's The Crime of Monsieur Lange (1936) hits the nail more squarely on the head. But Rene Clair's earlier film is an early talkie that still contains some of the lyricism and wowing art direction of the silents but I think I prefer his Le Million (also 1931).

Adam P (nl) wrote: Completely offbeat and rewarding, and in true Cassavetes style, you have no idea quite where it will take you in these characters' lives. There are some especially priceless bits with Gena Rowland's character buying a "baby" for her brother and her vivid dreams regarding her husband and daughter. It's all unexpected, layered and touching.
Dave G (de) wrote: Elizabeth Olsen is exceptional in this psychological drama. She demonstrates her range and you truly feel her fear and confusion. What some may consider a dull film, you are transfixed on Olsen and through facial expressions understNd what she is going through. This film proves that we will be talking about Elizabeth Olsen for years to come.
