Derek R (br) wrote: The first film was a special type of bad. This still has some errors, but it was more believable, the only person that didn't make me cringe throughout the whole thing was Jeff Goldblum.
MF J (jp) wrote: This film from awesome and always hilarious director Alex De La Iglesia is a little marvel. First the story is wickedly creative and shape up all the clichs possible. The cast is marvelous, the lines are funny, the rhythm of the film is fueled with an incredible raw energy and the whole ensemble is funny and wicked beyond words. A great little surprise.

Muffin M (us) wrote: On the morning of September 11, 2001, brothers Jules and Gedeon Naudet were working on a documentary about a rookie New York City Firefighter. Hearing a roar in the sky, Jules turned his camera upward - just in time to film the only existing image of the first plane crashing into the World Trade Center. In a fateful instant, Jules and Gedeon became eyewitnesses to the most shocking and defining moment of our time. With cameras rolling, the Naudets followed NYC firefighters into the heart of what would be known as Ground Zero. What emerged is an unforgettably powerful vision document and a stirring tribute to real life heroes who, in their city's darkest hour, rose to extraordinary acts of courage and compassion.

Based upon the manga Nono-chan by Hisaichi Ishii and written and directed here by Isao Takahata (Grave of the Fireflies (1988), Only Yesterday (1991) and Pom Poko (1994)), this is a different kind of story too, very episodic rather than being a linear story. My Neighbours The Yamadas tells the storys and adventures of the Yamada family, which consist of father Takashi (Tru Masuoka) and mother Matsuko (Yukiji Asaoka), and their teenage son Noboru (Hayato Isobata) and 5 year old daughter Nonoko (Naomi Uno), plus Matsuko's mother Shige (Masako Araki) and their dog Pochi. The segments covers everyday family life including losing Nonoko in a department store, to Noboru getting his first girlfriend but being embarrassed to tell his family about it. Even though Takashi and Matsuko have the odd row and stuggle to get ahead in life, their love for one another is what keeps the family together. It's a sweet film, and it's odd watercolour art style was animated entirely on computers, and even though it's not as focused as other Studio Ghlibi films, it's one you can make time for, and most of it's themes and episodes ring true, and they'll have all have happened to us at one point or another in our lives.

Russell G (us) wrote: It is one of those kids movies where they just do not try that hard. The idea was decent & the cast should have been good and message was good, BUT both Moranis and Arnold let me down big time. The kids side story & characters were a disaster. It's like a bad sitcom where all of a sudden characters magically find their middle ground and are total friends with no legitimate situation's of real behaviors to facilitate such a thing. It is not funny, is not heartwarming, and is not true to life in the least.
John R (us) wrote: Childhood past time, its a Kids movie through & through the definition of it. Its great if you're a child. As an adult I got the nostalgia that made it enjoyable. as far as it being a great cinematic masterpiece its nowhere near. As a child it is a 4 star, as a grown man now over 20 years later its a 1 1/2 star. This movie is absolutely terrible but I rated it a 4 for who the targeted audience was for: children. Its more of a kids movie than the Lion King is thats how much of a kids movie this is. And thats fine, children need movies for them we have to stop trying to market the Avengers & Deadpool & X-Men to kids and go back to making low budget films that appeal to kids that are not too complex. We need more movies like this for our children.
