That memory is Disneyland compared to Blood Gnome. Blood Gnome is bad bad bad bad bad badbad bad bad bad. I say no to it! No!?Here sighs and lamentations and loud cries were echoing across the starless air, so that, as soon as I set out, I wept. Strange utterances, horrible pronouncements, accents of anger, words of suffering, and voices shrill and faint, and beating hands?all went to make tumult that will whirl forever through that turbid, timeless air, like sand that eddies when a whirlwind swirls.? - Dante on Blood Gnome

Hunter H (br) wrote: To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar may not be the most original comedy to come on the scene, but it has enough creativity to keep it flying, and when To Wong Foo flies, it soars. Our main characters could pass as drag queens to the untrained eye, but underneath are John Leguizamo, Wesley Snipes and the late Patrick Swayze, each of which give impeccable and unique performances. While the story is pretty cookie cutter, the film is saved by its cast, including an interesting supporting cast of Stockard Channing and Blythe Danner, who play less than ordinary small town folk. The flaws of the film are smaller and less prevalent, including many editing issues including scenes seeming to end before they are even given a chance to begin, and while the film is incredibly unrealistic, the output is a sweet, endearing, absolutely hilarious joyride that comes highly recommended to drag lovers, and recommended as a rental to those less "acquainted" with the subject.

Luke F (fr) wrote: A fantastic film that I can watch over and over again. The characters are fantastic and the script is superb. This film throws all of the emotions at you and strikes hard and true with each. A must see!! It also has one of my favourite film scores of all time by the late John Barry

J B (br) wrote: Very cool, smart, suspenseful and gory spy flick. More sexy than I would have expected from an early 80's movie. As smooth as Donald Sutherland is, I think Kate Nelligan outshines him. Her emotional swings really make the film. My one slight beef is the scoring which on occasion strays toward the over-dramatic; I'm thinking specifically of a love scene with swelling string accompaniment. Gag me. Oh well.Nelligan's poor husband, Christopher Cazenove...his character got the worst of all possible worlds.
Rebecca T (us) wrote: Some good acting. Heavy emphasis on character development tied the story together. But that development was limited to just 1 or the many key players. Much of the plot just didn't make sense!

Stefan P (fr) wrote: Highly enjoyable from the Marx brothers. Unlike many of their other films, "Room Service" has a relatively coherent and followable story (instead of just "random" gags and musical numbers) and I liked that. Harpo has a pretty big role in this, and overshadows Groucho. Perhaps Groucho's less prominent role can explain why it's not one of their best, seeing that we miss many witty commentaries from Groucho. A must watch for the fans nevertheless.
