Deidre R (au) wrote: Slow but well crafted film for the first 3/4 then it descends into a farcical crime thriller with a too neat wrapped chocolate box finish. Damn! So close to being a good Oz film but yet so far...

Grant H (de) wrote: Very good movie. The film does well to deliver a thrilling, slow-burning, chilling story that is terrifying in how real it feels and thanks to solid performances from its two leads.

Patrick W (de) wrote: Pretty decent follow up to the original, although not nearly as good. Gabrielle Union was a good addition to the cast from the first film playing Lawrence's sister. The addition of this character added a layer of conflict/drama to the script. Most have said and I tend to agree with them that this film is about 15-30min too long. Toward the end it does seem to get sluggish and drag out a bit. Still not a horrible film and after so many years of fans wanting a sequel, it held its ground.

Kristen S (kr) wrote: this is one of those terrible indie movies were every character is "quirky" and all the actors are doing weird accents. strangely, only downey and perhaps sean penn know what they're doing in this mess. they both go for broke, in opposite directions. downey as well...downey on let's say, some very choice uppers, and penn in i-will-kill-you-with-a-look method acting mode. the other performances are rather charmless, especially alyssa milano in the lead. that's right, alyssa milano is the lead actor. that should tell you what you need to know right there.

Mark A (br) wrote: An excellent recounting of the horror of surviving a Japanese prisoner of war camp during WWII, that put this viewer in mind of "Playing For Time". Glenn Close plays Adrienne Pargiter, the wife of a British diplomat, who becomes the de facto leader of the women incarcerated on Sumatra. Joining her is a marvelous cast, including Frances McDormand (Dr Verstak), Cate Blanchett (Susan McCarthy), Julianna Marguiles (Topsy Merritt), and Pauline Collins (Margaret Drummond). Together, they face the brutality of their captors with dignity and courage and manage to put together a vocal orchestra and present classical music with only their voices. When they begin to sing, I defy the viewing audience to remain dry-eyed! A testament to the strength of the human spirit under the harshest conditions imaginable.

Aj V (br) wrote: An interesting teen movie from the 80s, not one of the best, but it's not one of the worst either. I saw it on TV a while ago, and it was okay.

Brad S (gb) wrote: I had only seen this once before a long time ago, so it was nice to revisit on Blu-ray. Such a funny film, with great performances. Monroe blew my mind, incredibly sexy, don't think there's been another like her which is pretty amazing. This also has perhaps the best closing line ever. This is a MUST watch for everyone!

Heather M (it) wrote: I tried watching this and couldn't make it more than halfway through. The story was absurd and I just didn't care enough to finish it.
