This film does do a great job of showing the just how destructive a drinking life style can be. It just never gave me the story to go along with it or the care to make me care about the outcome of these peoples lives. It just always felt like a Lifetime movie of the week at best. The subplots are extremely underdeveloped. Octavia Spencer who is coming off a high with The Help is extremely underused. I always felt that an amazing performance makes a movie worth watching but can't save the movie from being poor.

I think that the TV guide on my cable system sums it up best with this description:"A British professor, a playboy and a rich woman in pink pants see lava and dinosaurs in the Amazon."That's as good as it gets.

Chris M (es) wrote: Michael Moore can be inspiring and irritating, sometimes at the same time, and he's picking on an easy target here; the fat-cats who made hay (and a lot of money) while the rest of us struggle on...To be fair to him, if he's even only partly right, there is something very, very rotten in the state of American capitalism. From the unexpected death of FDR sealing a death-knell for any chance of a 2nd Bill of Rights, to the Life Insurance policies taken out by companies on their employees, he is scathing about how the American Dream has been corrupted. It probably won't change your mind about anything, and it's not exactly uplifting, but it's a good watch.

John O (mx) wrote: Poorly written, poorly acted. Will Smith almost made it bearable...but not quite.

Mike C (it) wrote: Everything about this is a bit over the top. Shocking Redford would stumble into a role like this. Briefly, LaBeouf plays a young, assholish reporter who uncovers some information about some parties to a crime many years before. A little twisty, turny and I've never cared for gimmicks like that.
