Heartsick about the demise of his marriage to Linda (Janeane Garofolo), Duane does nothing much in his daily life but work and drink. When his visitation rights are threatened after he's caught driving while intoxicated with his daughter in the backseat, Duane confronts the realization that the time has come to get his life back on track before he loses everything. There are a lot of mixed reviews on this movie. I happened to like it. I wouldn't say enjoy, cause the movie is depressing and sad. But David Schwimmer is really, really, really good in this movie. He blew me away with his performance. First movie I have ever seen him in, and I will admit I was afraid I couldn't separate him from his character 'Ross' from the t.v. show 'Friends'. But there was no "Ross" in his performance. He was great. It's a very real, raw, and honest movie. Definitely not your feel good type movie. But one that will have you sympathizing with the characters, or even relating to them. The ending is bitter sweet. This story might touch home for a lot of people. It's a well done movie and I hope more people see it.
(au) wrote: I really liked this a lot. It's refreshing to see a movie about intelligent people where the dialogue isn't so self-satisfied, or as contrived and inflated as Dawson's Creek. These are intelligent people, talking like normal people, encountering situations that are totally feasible and very relatable. I'm a little tired of seeing Jay Mohr as the sleazy TV exec (can he play another role?), but otherwise, it is delightful, and insightful, and enjoyable.
(de) wrote: this movie starts similar to the first one, so in the beginning i expected it be just as idiotic as the first, but on the contrary this movie is better than the first one.The movie is a serious movie unlike the first one which was a spoof of classic american action films. The plot is similar to that of the original which was a terrorist situation but this was alot better done. The action choreography which was about the only thing i liked about the original, was about five times better in this. The acting wasn't bad i'm pretty sure it would have been alot better if not for the bad dubbing. Eventhough this isn't meant to be a spoof, at the end i was seeing a little homage to bruce lee. with that said that brings me to my point of contention with this film, in the end it seems as though the script wasn't finished yet so they improvised and the movie goes right into bulls**tville. i was going to give this movie four stars but the last seven minutes were total bull and that's why i would only recommend this movie as something to rent when you have nothing else to do.
(us) wrote: Great performance by Dern, but wears a little thin because she's not sympathetic, just kind of an empty soul, and there's no one to root for in this movie. Good movie though, just not a great movie.
(ru) wrote: Elvira, Mistress of the Dark is a love letter to the schlocky horror films of the 50s and 60s. Its campy vibe is thoroughly entertaining, as well as Elvira's numerous saucy double entendres. It's a tad dated and the film loses some of its steam and humor towards the end, but overall this is the perfect film for a silly, spooky evening.

(kr) wrote: I do believe that Mickey Rourke earned his Oscar nod for this film. His acting as the miserable pathetic Randy "The Ram" whose only joy life is his dried up professional wrestling career. This film is agonizing as we watch Randy struggle to repair his shattered relationship with his daughter, struggle to court Marisa Tomei's sexy stripper, Pam/Cassidy, struggle with a heart attack and struggle to fit into the real world. This movie is sad at best and the thing that made me the angriest is its abrupt ending, no resolution; it just ends. I don't know if I can recommend this but I can say damn! I don't even have a body like Maria Tomei now; she looks smoking hot for 45! I'mjealous.
