Kaidan is elegant, smooth, and beautifully performed... but it impressed me as having no distinctive soul.

The reality-war-camera effect gives a very peculiar thrill to this portray of the bloody Sunday. Nicely pulled. It's a like it or hate it flick. Not a must see but very interesting if you want to understand what sparked off the events of that mourning day.

But I would definitley suggest it as a good 12 year old slumber party film with face-masks and popcorn. Not one for true movie fanatics such as myself, but will be a definite hit with pre-teens! Lovely little girlie film it is!

Laurence Olivier in black-face during this era still confuses the hell out of me. Basing a movie about the Horn of Africa and casting a white man in the role of the Mahdi is just bizarre, and would require an awe inspiring performance to overlook - which unfortunately Olivier just doesn't muster.
