A bribe taking detective finds himself with the worst day, as his mother has died, his wife is leaving him, he's being investigated by IA, and he's just killed someone in a hit and run. All of the little twists and payoffs make for a suspenseful film, even if it is a bit long at times. Enjoyable, but nothing too incredible.

Carlos M (es) wrote: Since Insidious a horror film hasn't scared the crap out of me like this, and Wan follows that great movie with this genuinely terrifying story that knows how to maintain a steady level of pure terror by relying on an extremely creepy atmosphere and cinematography.
Daniel G (nl) wrote: The problem with "Frat Party" is that it tries so hard to be a stupid, funny, boob flashing college humor flick but fails miserably. This excuse for a film is more of a bad Dawson's Creek episode than anything, complete with horrid acting, and a cheesy, sappy soundtrack appropriate for the misunderstood sixteen year old. For a movie titled "Frat Party", not a single beer is consumed, and the film's idea of a fraternity house may as well be a European brothel. The real comedy with this movie is not in the film, it is making fun of how awful it really is, and not to mention the plethora of fake accents spewed by its cardboard characters. Skip this one, there's better acting in daytime soap operas than this ghastly film.

Michael H (es) wrote: I love to see actors play out of their comfort zone and I think that Michael Cera done it very well. Despite playing his usual quiet, geeky self in this film he also plays a badass other side to himself which is very funny and he plays like a veteran. Justin Long looked so much different than his character in Dodgeball as he played Sheeni's pothead brother. Overall I love the film even though it has it's flaws.
John R (fr) wrote: 140320: This is a 3.5 pushing 4. What a pleasant surprise. My son wanted a new movie for Wednesday night pizza night and I found this DVD at Walmart for $5.00. Great investment. Lots of fun, action and adventure. Even had me near tears a couple times. I just loved it. Have never been a big fan of Anime so I didn't read the comic or watch the show. Knew well of Astro Boy but just never gave him a chance. Now wish I had. I'm surpised by the lower rating but believe this is a large part due to purists. I felt the same way about the X-Men. Enjoyed the films but wished they had stayed more true to the comic. So, if you're not a purist, you should have a great time.

James T (ag) wrote: as cheesy as it is with its predictable plot, endless sexual innuendo and one-liners, this is pure 80's movie magic. Elvira was the name of everything spooky back then and made it all tongue-in-cheek sexy way before goth became emo and emo became 'oh-- thats HOT TOPIC!" I seriously love this movie and as weird as it sounds, have quite a few family-orientated Halloween memories when it comes to it. I do remember watching this with my grandparents when it came on tv a few years after its release. A lot of the jokes were still way above my head, but I remember the *sigh* chuckles they shared, Grandpa admitting she was "one hot woman"... Grandma simply laughing and saying, "It's dumb, but I am sure they had a blast making this movie!"That last quote still sticks with me... sometimes movies are so bad they are actually good... I agree, this movie seems like it was a lot of fun to make.... I could go for another Elvira movie 'bout now!!! Perhaps we should send her KISSING DARKNESS and let her poke her commentary at it!!!
Ja V (it) wrote: I loved the movie, it was touching and it showed what hardships one can really go through, I however did not like the movie ending, the book ending was altered in a way that makes it more acceptable but the way that the movie ended words cannot describe how disappointing that ending truly was!
Tommy H (us) wrote: You should probably take one of those anti-seasickness pills before watching the movie. Das Boot is the best and most claustrophobic submarine movie ever made. You'll love it, if you don't mind a bit of nausea.
Jude P (us) wrote: Superbly acted by the entire lead rolls. The way the story unfolded can not miss a second where you will be in a labyrinth. A true classic. Here as well we should tell the critics that the directer sure knows how to tell a story better than any one in the world !
Jamie C (jp) wrote: Now days I expect too much from films like these, Im not saying it's not a bad film because it's not I just wanted more action scenes on and off shore but what action there was they did it well. The special effects were very well done, A little slow to get in the swing of things and in my opinion focuses too much on characters which isn't always a bad thing but in these movies there's no need, It's not as good as I hoped but worth watching for the battle scenes, Nothing more.
Russell S (gb) wrote: Has to be amongst the greatest movies ever made. Perfect casting throughout, top notch writing and performances, a heartwarming comedy set in the longest of winters!
Brett H (kr) wrote: An over-the-top but completely entertaining action romp through the jungle that never takes itself seriously and is a straight-up blast! The chemistry between The Rock and Seann William Scott is hilarious and the movie plays much like Midnight Run in the jungle. The action scenes are outstanding even though they push credibility as often as possible, most notably a fight between The Rock and the Rebels that completely dismisses physics and gravity; but it's all in good fun. There is also an incredibly gnarly fall down a hill that looks completely real and I really felt for the stuntmen who had to participate. It's a brainless good time with a super-cool action hero and a gorgeous setting!
Michael H (au) wrote: Solid performances help the dramatic aspects achieve at least some of the gravity aimed for, which in turn helps elevate the proceedings a notch above standard horror suspense until the final reel??s requisiteviolent payoff.
