Kyle D (gb) wrote: I happened upon this film on Netflix and figured I'd give it a shot. It stayed in my queue for about a month when a visit to a Redbox reminded me it was waiting for me online for free, so I saved the buck. Personally, I enjoyed the movie. Give it a shot. I sat with a friend (a fellow movie fanatic) and we both marveled that it wasn't released theatrically. A post-viewing bit of research revealed that it was only released to six theaters across the country. SIX THEATERS! I don't know how you have Hayden Christensen and John Leguizamo in a film and not at least advertise it... Check it out, it's worthwhile, and has more than a few startling moments that caught even my jaded-self off-guard. Yeah, I shouted aloud... I'm not ashamed to admit it.

Johnny T (fr) wrote: Testing a family for breaking points within a comic framework is not exactly new territory, but Watt's scripting is sharp and she plays fast and loose with audience expectation in the cliche department. A gem of a film: a wonderfully observed snapshot that canvasses the emotional pulse of a family in the suburbs. It's the slant with which Watt affectionately embraces her characters that make it so enlightening. Watt strives to cram a great deal into a small space, but her special triumph is that the strain never shows. My Year Without Sex stands as the most accomplished Australian film so far this year. While there are occasions where the film appears to be going nowhere in particular, the undeniable believability of the characters makes the wait for a return to relevance simply whiz by. VERDICT: "High-Quality Stuff" - [Positive Reaction] This is a rating to a movie I view as very entertaining and well made, and definitely worth paying the full price at a theatre to see or own on DVD. It is not perfect, but it is definitely excellent. (Films that are rated 3.5 or 4 stars)

Jess L (gb) wrote: Why can't they make movies like they used to!? Sullivan's Travels is an absolute gem of a movie and given the year it was made it still holds up. Absolutely hilarious, the scene where the bus starts chasing the car my God it felt like my sides were gonna split! And great commentary on the movie business from within the movie business. Definitely one to watch!
