Cecilia L (ag) wrote: This movie surprised me. Excellent. A very personal , very thoughtful movie. Took a very political subject and humanized it. It is easy to see this issue as very black and white. This movie focused on the often difficult grays. Excellent acting and direction. Thank you.
Russell S (ca) wrote: Despite sincere intentions by the director to do justice to the franchise, this movie is simply too long, too lifeless and watching Brandon Routh imitate Christopher Reeve is almost as distracting as watching Ewan Macgreggor imitate Alec Guiness in the Star Wars prequels. Not a bad movie, just somehow drab and somewhat lacking in action.

In it he casts the titular character as a truculent poet, death as a femme fatale, the underworld as a bombed out ruin and Eurydice as an annoying wet blanket.Amazing special effects that have been much imitated (mirrors turning into water, for example) it's a slight film in terms of plot but visually as rich as they come.
