Gabbar Singh is a 2012 Telugu action film directed by Harish Shankar. The film is produced by Bandla Ganesh under Parameshwara Art productions banner and stars Pawan Kalyan and Shruti Haasan in lead roles. Devi Sri Prasad, who previously worked with Pawan Kalyan in Jalsa, has composed the soundtrack for the film. The film is an adaptation of 2010's successful Hindi film Dabangg. The film was released on May 11, 2012 And went on to become "BlockBuster of The Year" and a Comeback for "powerstar" Pawan Kalyan

Steven K (nl) wrote: I found this a fascinating, funny, sad documentary. I watched it for free on a Turner Classics whim and was plastered to my television for its duration. Having been a hospital social worker for many years I have seen my share of eccentric little old ladies, some of whom were also hoarders and "cat ladies". None of them were quite as wildly eccentric as the mother and daughter depicted in this movie. The most interesting thing about the dynamics of their relationship is that even when one feels certain their frequent squabbling I going to turn nasty and even violent it never does; indeed they seem to enjoy it and either ignore or laugh off their sometimes bitter arguments and caterwauling. I found myself curious as to the possibility that the daughter, Edie, suffered from some sort of mental illness as her behavior was so bizarre that seemed to be a likelihood. However, her mother more often came across as a rather familiar "tough hen" type who, despite her criticisms of her daughter, probably desperately needed company and an "audience" in her old age. (She certainly was a verbose old lady; her voice can be heard calling out for her daughter or talking even when the cameras were not on her). Although some would insist that this documentary is a noble depiction of little more than two odd women, I suspect many simply enjoyed it for its pure camp. The outfits Edie wears throughout the movie alone suggests a creative spirit, but one that must've had many giggling. yes, this is a real and sometimes sad story, yet I suspect neither of the ladies in it would mind it in the least if people found their behavior and bizarre lives in their crumbling mansion downright comedic for, in their ways, both women seemed to savor attention. I bet they absolutely loved it when the cameras were rolling. As for Jackie O, she really had nothing to be ashamed of; many families have a character or two like these two. This documentary illustrates that people outside the "norm" have a certain nobility; they too are part of life, not merely objects to be pitied.

Rainer K (de) wrote: Alain Resnais' style is inconceivable and unique. There's nothing to compare it too. It's meditative and cryptic as Tarkovsky but way more talky. The dialogue is poetic more than out-of-life and his cinematography reminds of his documentary roots.Long segments of the film offer essay film-qualities but Resnais interrupts them with classic romantic scenes and themes. Hiroshima is a chameleon - at times it reminded of Tarkovsky, at other times of Marker and sometimes I even saw glimpses of Lost in Translation.It's a film that has to sink in to appreciate or understand it, but I'm not even close to understand it at all I fear.I can only assume what he tried to do. No idea if this was his intention, but it seemed to me like Resnais was trying to explain the inhuman catastrophy that Hiroshima was and the fear from the atomic bomb through the personal love story of a man and a woman.A love story so basical that it seems ridiculous to even compare it to the existence-threatening power of the atomic bomb. But this power is so inconceivable that it's maybe only graspable when it's broken down into basic human experience.I see Hiroshima mon amour as a projection and retrojection of big-scale and small-scale disaster.Having said that, I still can't integrate the flashbacks and backstory of the French Woman. The flashbacks show us small-town life in more innocent times before the cruelty of Hiroshima, and, later on, the ordeal of a young defiled woman. Both of which not really help to understand the present situation. Neither did I really understand the relation between the young German soldier and her Japanese lover, beside the fact that they were both forbidden loves.Hiroshima mon amour has to be decoded, wants to be decoded. Few films so happily endeavour in tying a knot for its viewer while not abandoning a clear narrative. Hiroshima mon amour works without twists or narrative gimmicks but with relations of dialogue and images, of present and past.
