It's like watching a movie based on a SNL character sketch without the benefit of ever seeing one of the sketches-it was stupid times 1000 but with the added benefit (for me) of making her movie opinions moot forevermore.

You can see how it influenced films such as Giant, The Big Country, East of Eden and possibly even the western series Bonanza. It's not as good as The Big Country but Broken Lance does have it's moments of great cinema. Tracy is a giant in this movie compared to ham acting of Richard Widmark, Earl Holliman and Robert Wagner. It's worth a viewing just for Tracy's performance but there is also some fine cinematography along the way. One criticism of this movie, it could have done with more action and a better score.
(de) wrote: Wow, just watched this for the first time, someone posted this was a 1947 flop? Unbelievable, just a well crafted dark comedy, right up there with the 1955 movie The Ladykillers, the 1944 Arsenic and old Lace Chaplin at his best.

(mx) wrote: Blazing Saddles is a wonderful spoof on Westerns and a satire to Hollywood in general. Mel Brooks doesn't pull any punches and has a number of memorable gags. Some last too long, but just barely detract from the film's overall quality.
(gb) wrote: Date and Switch tries to be the next "Superbad" or "American Pie" but with a twist, one of the guys is gay. The film stars Nicholas Braun and Hunter Cope as Michael and Matty, two best friends who try to have sex by prom. We've seen the formula 1,000 times and while it can be considered more of a Buddy-Comedy than a Rom-Com, it doesn't bring anything new to the table. The acting is good for what it's worth and the jokes work about half the time but overall, Date and Switch is an enjoyable guilty pleasure that's worth renting. (NOT the $6.99 "currently-in-theaters" price but the standard $3.99 or even maybe a redbox $1 rental).
