Jerry S (fr) wrote: Better than average Hollywood garbage, but still drowns in the eternity of faceless movies.Yes, it had good potential, but the really bad flame effect got in to my nerve. They missed a huge chance of creating a Film noir. They had everything; - Love story - Great casting - Theme (Old New York... I guess it is. I'm not good of guessing themes). - CharactersStill they threw it all away, damn. This was needing importantly a STORY, not a "go here and there and shoot somewhere"-shit. Almost makes me cry of slipping this magnificent chance of getting a diamond from the Hollywood's pile of shit.

David K (es) wrote: My second favorite Woodie allen movie (Match Point being #1) this is a very well written and well acted, tragic romantic comedy starring Barcelona in all its glory. Maybe to much Woodie for many, but i love it.

Jarkko H (ru) wrote: Again, Randy Newman's music, boosted by Toy Story (1995). The level is the same as in the previous section, but the plot is very new. More humor found in the particle, and also the rate remains the same. One scene in Star Wars parodies, funny, and in the credits at the same time "ruined rotating scenes" -an extra. Finally, a couple of things: A good story and humor of sulfur is in place.

Christopher B (us) wrote: While not great cinema, this is a must see for fans of horror or Blaxploitation. Marshall is a much better actor than most - and a young Bernie Hamilton too!

Doug K (de) wrote: "It's hot as HELL in Phila-DEL-phia." A great 1972 film adaptation of the Broadway musical (by Peter Stone and Sherman Edwards) about the events leading up to July 4, 1776. Yes, it's a musical, but it's a ton of fun and features a stirring lead performance by William Daniels as John Adams.

Mark H (ag) wrote: 2 out of 5 stars. There is a gritty subgenre of films about drug addiction that has produced classics like "Midnight Cowboy," "Requiem for a Dream," "Liquid Sky," "Drugstore Cowboy," and "Rush." The opportunity for filmmakers and actors to take characters and situations to the edge of desperation, when handled well, can result in memorable work. Usually the behavior choices are loathsome by some, tragic by others. It's like watching a train wreck in slow motion and most people prefer to look away. Even if you cannot relate to the characters, you must care about them for the film to engage the viewer's interest."Heaven Knows What" is a new low budget, gritty film about heroin addicts in New York. What's different here is the lead actress, Arielle Holmes, also wrote the book that the film is based on, which is close to her own life. The film has a sociodocumentary feel to it, but is scripted and shot with actors, some with more talent than others. It has the desperate behavior typical of the junkie genre, but not enough plot to hold your interest. With the 90% positive reviews, was expecting to like the film much better. Holmes is good, but she's not enough to sustain the film for 94 minutes when the trapped world with annoying music never really evolves beyond bleak addict despair.
