Aseem J (jp) wrote: A movie that had a lot of potential. Bad screen play execution, direction..hurts the sentiment for the movie..

Dean H (jp) wrote: Not as good as 'King of Kong' but interesting none the less. It's interesting to see what happened with these so called Arcade legends when reality kicked in. Most of them are single and live rather mundane depressing lives. The film is executed well and helps relay some of the history of these games and there effect in their heyday.

Matthew S (mx) wrote: The critics failed to grasp the magic contained in Todd Hayne's passionate ode to the era of Glam Rock. It is all a very veiled interpretation -- or possibly fantasy of that glitter rock era that was so fueled by erotic teasing from the likes of David Bowie and Iggy Pop. Haynes applies an truly mythic sic-fi spin on of rock's most creative / experimental eras. The performances of the cast match the neon and trip-like excessive pitch of the movie. Visually and aurally stunning, Velvet Goldmine explodes with imagination and desire. Completely unique and a nostalgic rebel yell of a movie.

Tommy K (ca) wrote: The villain is boring and cliched and the story can be compared to Pocahontas, but the animation and most of the characters are enough to make the movie genuinely enjoyable for me. A Disney bomb that happens to be one of my biggest guilty pleasures.

Jared L (kr) wrote: The soundtrack pulls the movie out of the depths of hell and makes it watchable.

Andrew L (us) wrote: A vividly painted portrait of the 1980's England youth movement that poignantly and boldly examines cultural and political issues against the backdrop of a coming of age tale that'll tug at your heartstrings for better and worse. The definitive product of Meadows career and much of the cast's too for a set of electrifying performances, the best of which goes without doubt to Thomas Turgoose's extraordinary debut.

Heather M (kr) wrote: I think that I am going to pass on this one.

Chus v (ca) wrote: It is not perfect, but some sequences can leave you breathless, thanks to Carpenter's genius. Specially, the final showdown.
