Elaine M (mx) wrote: Plenty of fun but by no means Kitamura's masterpiece. They had a great idea, there are no faults in the acting and who doesn't love a nice claustrophobic samurai movie? The problem is, such confined sets need to be compensated for with substance, and there are not enough layers to 'Aragami' which just makes it feel a little suffocating. You feel there ought to have been more twists of originality along the way, but it's nonetheless terrifically directed by the God of Japanese cinema AND a fucking kickass ending is to be expected by any Sakaguchi fan. Good, but really nothing on 'Versus'...

Ben G (ru) wrote: I watched this movie right before I left for college, and as a consequence, I walked three miles to the nearest comic book store on FCBD every year since, just to get the latest Archaia/BOOM! Studios Labyrinth comic. David Bowie gave the film a dazzling performance and an even more unforgettable sound track. He's the perfect villain and the perfect love interest all rolled up into one. My only qualm was that they never made out in the movie, which was fair I guess, given the age difference. If you loved David Bowie, you'll love this film. Archaia and BOOM! did a good job with their Labyrinth short stories too, but under no circumstances should ANYONE read the Return to Labyrinth graphic novels. Tokyopop and Jake T. Forbes defecated on the legacy of Henson and Labyrinth by writing those novels the way they did, so any true Labyrinth fan should read all the other associated Labyrinth media BESIDES those volumes.

Roger R (mx) wrote: A princess runs away from her life and is rescued from danger by a handsome reporter. She has fun doing the the ordinary things denied to her by her position and of course, they fall in love. Sounds cheesy and predictable. It is a truism of a good narrative text that the central character(s) undergo a change or transformation during the story. Audrey Hepburn can show us this transformation in a facial expression as only a handful of really great actors can. Even the usually wooden but still handsome and charming Peck rises to the occasion. A remarkable film which I pray to God hollywood never attempts to remake. Of course it helps if you fall in love with Audrey too but you already knew that
