(kr) wrote: There is nothing you've never seen before in this movie and you can guess what will happen in the movie, so why bother trying to make many twists?
(ca) wrote: It seems that the makers of this movie wanted to make a movie like Wrong Turn. Well Wrong Turn is way better. There's not much violence, blood/gore, or torture. Usually movies that go straight to DVD are horrible like this. I'm not saying this is the worst movie ever, but if you're looking for something like this, I recommend Wrong Turn or The Hills Have Eyes (where there is strong bloody violence and more torture).
(it) wrote: It's nice to see the Three Extremes short get a full-length treatment. After seeing Bizarre Foods stem cell dumplings are hardly as gross as fertilized bird eggs (which, of course, are shown in the film). This movie does not help to assuage the rumor that Chinese people eat babies. Chan directs well, it's an eye-catching look at the practical use of a taboo food.

(us) wrote: If anything, despite the charmingly hilarious script and great acting (it's sad only one of the actors' careers really pressed on), the soundtrack is what this films all about. The Mamas and the Papas songs just add an extra tone of wit to the film. Brokeback looks like crap compared to this one.

Kline and Washington are on top form, but it has a TV movie feel from beginning to end. I usually don't watch this genre of movie, as the depress the shit out of me, but one of my students was studying the book for his literature class so I thought I'd cut a few corners. Cry Freedom is a worthwhile watch, but you will be shocked by the level of cruelty done by the S, African government at that time.
(es) wrote: Tim Burton does it yet again. Amy Adams is such a superb actress. Her portrayal as Margaret Keane is so delicate yet forceful. I loved her and the shrewd and conniving Christoph Waltz. Great story, beautifully shot, and wonderful end to a compelling story.
(it) wrote: a solid, methodical thriller that intricately builds to its inevitable conclusion
(jp) wrote: Its concept was good enough but the execution is painfully unfunny featuring Sean Scott acting like a jackass throughout the movie. Its a low brow and mean spirited movie without a shred of decent comedy
