Rose H (gb) wrote: For me this movie was hard to follow. The performances were amazing but the "story" part of it didn't make any since and it was confusing. Also the characters weren't well developed because you really didn't know anything about them.

Laura L (nl) wrote: Obviously not as good as the French original, but charming nonetheless. The cast takes what could have been a truly awful film and leaves you with a smile on your face. Scenes between Lloyd Bridges and Keith Coogan are some of my favorites, and the phrase "Kiss my squirrel" makes me smile...

Jon P (jp) wrote: Kevin Connor's cult slasher satire gives us a sick premise, sillily handled: that of human-plants buried neck-deep in soil and harvested for meat.Wide-eyed characters and droopy dialogue tell us that this tongue-in-cheek chiller shouldn't be taken too seriously, but the film's excessive sleaze and cheese soon grow tiring even on a comic level. Grinning, greying Rory Calhoun has his moments of creepy hilarity and the film's sloppy chainsaw duel plays like a multi-layered pastiche but, for the most part, Motel Hell is bargain bin trash.

Ondrej (ru) wrote: Wonderful human love story. Overall very strongly holding story. Final part of the movie doesn't carry that well with some minor flaws.

Michael D (br) wrote: Bergman at his most nihilisitic. Reasons for watching? Sven Nykvist's work on this is stunning - the man truly was one of the finest cinematographers of the 20th century and he is at his peak here. Gunnar Bjrnstrand and Ingrid Thulin are amazing also in the central roles and the film overall is an ultra-precise meditiation on a godless, futile existence. It's a bit light on the fart jokes however.

Donald D (gb) wrote: A film that could have been far more bland in the hands of a different director. Instead it has a quiet, human feel with compelling characters. The writing is strange, coming from a place of unabashed honesty and authenticity. If you are looking for a fun, sexy movie that allows you to remain thoughtless and spoonfed, this is not, in fact, the movie for you.

Paul D (de) wrote: It would be hard not to mention Hitchcock to describe this taut thriller. A classic from the same school of filmmaking and the acting is pretty good too.

Charlie J (ru) wrote: Nothing dazzled me about this film. There wasn't that much of a point watching it besides a few decent jumpscares. The writing was poor and allowed for no character development. Most of the murders defied logic and had no direct effect on the storyline. Anyone could have died or not died besides Donna and the story would have remained the same. It wasn't necessarily a waste of time, it was ok in the fact that there was some decent entertainment value in its "scary" scenes, but I want my $4 back.
