Jackson C (ca) wrote: Tai Chi Zero does not have a great storyline, perhaps not even a good one, but it more than makes up for it with its innovative art behind. It uses elements from western filmography and infuse it with Chinese elements. I am thoroughly impressed with what Stephen Feng and his team was able to conjure up. However, I can also understand its underwhelming reception among viewers, as it truly is one of a kind in Chinese cinema. While western filmmakers have experimented such films since an early date, this is something new in China. Maybe in the future, the movie will garner more recognition than it currently holds. With such innovative film making, it perhaps justifies the use of more amateur actors, but it doesn't explain the investment.
