Chris C (nl) wrote: Decent story. The portrayal of Jesus was not my favorite. some of the other apostles have distractingly fake beards and wigs. Robert Loggia gave a nice performance as the titular apostle. Some of the other casting choices, though are questionable. Towards the end, it gets a bit overdramatic. The creative team over this movie took quite a few liberties in this story that are arguably unnecessary.

It's not for everyone, but it's worth checking out considering everyone has a varying opinion of the film. It's either Shyamalan's last good film, or the beginning of a mediocre career.

Niral G (it) wrote: This movie was one of the first Bollywood movies that truly impressed me. The relatively slow pace is a perfect setup for the movie. The acting throughout was also awesome, especially that of Manoj Bajpai. This is a must watch!
Lawrence A (au) wrote: Terrific. I've been to the 'Wall'. My sense of the memorial was complimented by this film about Maya Lin's 'strong, clear vision'. It's so interesting to watch her work as her true artistic spirit takes shape. We are fortunate that Maya was generous enough to let us glimpse her creative process. She is so focused and so articulate in rendering her personal muse into words---an uncommon gift---probably a result of her academic parents, one an artist and the other, an English teacher.(PS: Another reviewer was critical because she had become so predictable, making the same thing over and over. I suppose that person would find Frank Lloyd Wright boring because he just kept building 'buildings' all his life!)

Simeon M (es) wrote: Fire Birds is desperately trying to be as cool as Top Gun. But it fails in two main ways: The F-14 Fighter Jet is much cooler than the Apache Helicopter, and Tom Cruise is far superior to Nicolas Cage. That scene where Nic Cage is dominating in the helicopter videogame and singing/yelling "I am the greatest! I AM the GREATEST!" was hilariously bad.But it's not all bad. Tommy Lee Jones is excellently cast as the flight instructor, he has some great throwaway lines. And the end fight sequence is pretty enjoyable. It's interesting to see a movie that tried to follow in the footsteps of the ironic Top Gun, even though it failed miserably.
