Steve D (jp) wrote: A kinder, gentler Jodorowsky than the dark, intense psychedelic surrealism of his early films, and sometimes hampered by a limited budget and dodgy digital fx -- but this dreamlike ode to the director's long lost childhood is full of wildly imaginative metaphors and overbrims with a sense of strange wonder and bizarre joy that makes it an unforgettable experience.

Ryan C (kr) wrote: if you look past the bad acting and a few other setbacks there is alot of humour to this movie and it is an enjoyable watch at least once

Cheryl N (ca) wrote: This is really a dramatic theatre production disguised as a film. The fact that the two leads narrate and take the audience through their journey is weirdly refreshing. There were several witty moments but ultimately gave way to the lack of convincing performances from the two actresses. on a side note, i like the disclaimer. i quote: ""Girl Play" is based on a true story. The names and places have been changed to protect the innocent except Robin and Lacie. They supposedly are who they say they are".

Tommy K (ru) wrote: The story is too basic to engage even kids, the characters are immediately forgettable and sometimes unlikable, the songs are mediocre, and the humor and even the animation style are far too childish by Disney standards. One of Disney's low points.

Shane J (us) wrote: alots been said about the morals for this film which u can understand with the premise. but for me i dont find it racist at all. for me it has a heart to it and a message especially when you compare it to garbage like white chicks. the films quite funny in places but the humor has def dated this was the 80's.

Brandon S (kr) wrote: Richard Donner directs with power and efficiency, and its his talent paired with Wenk's script that brings it to a level beyond your typical buddy cop movie. The performances are fantastic also. Bruce Willis is his usual hardened self, minus the biting sense of humor, but keep your eyes on Mos Def. He's the real star.

Christina E (gb) wrote: An absolute MUST SEE movie!!!! Possibly the best Sherwood has made so far. Amazing story! Much better acting! Decent action sequences! Makes you laugh, makes you cry, and challenges your heart. I love this movie! I can't wait to see what this church does next. God has really used their movie ministry in a powerful way! Compared to a lot of the trash Hollywood dishes out in a year, this movie is a great relief to see. This movie does not contain a perfect plot. This movie does not contain top-notch Hollywood actors. What this movie does have is power. It targets a key current issue in America. We need fathers that will rise up and lead their families as a godly example. Be COURAGEOUS!
