Dann M (nl) wrote: The backstory behind the creation and popularity of George A. Romero's groundbreaking cult hit Night of the Living Dead is explored in the documentary Birth of the Living Dead. The film looks at Romero's early career in commercials and at how he came up with the idea behind Night of the Living Dead. His guerrilla filmmaking style is also discussed, along with how he marketed the film in order to get it distributed in grindhouse theatres. And, historians and other experts look at the counterculture movement of the late '60s and at how it influenced Romero's work. Additional, the film reviews Night of the Living Dead's cinematic journey, from drive-in theatres to European art houses to the public domain, and how it continually increased in popularity and won over audiences and critics alike. Extraordinarily informative and comprehensive, Birth of the Living Dead is the definitive word on Romero's seminal zombie classic.

Mahesh P (it) wrote: Overall, a pretty decent movie, mainly because of Vishal Baradwaj's story. He has made incredible movies in the past such as Omkara and Kaminey, so hopes for this one were pretty high. However, he entrusted the direction to a rookie, Abhishek Chaubey, who did a horrific job. No flow to the movie at all and the ending didn't make any sense. One can clearly tell that he pretty much had no idea what he was doing when directing this movie. Acting from all three was good and music wasn't great but wasn't all that bad either. If Vishal had directed this himself, I think this would have been much better. Definitely had promise with a good storyline, but Chaubey's lack of experience in the industry ruined it.

Pavandeep S (gb) wrote: A heart-warming drama exploring the relationship of a father and his desire to hear his son's voice. It was fascinating to see the immense impact of dramatization in this film, extremely well-known in Hindi cinema. This family drama really pulls your bone and it has a very strange effect in that it is a melodrama without any form of hope in the end, it is really grim and shows the devastating effects of sacrifice and love, and yet shows its immense influence among mankind.
Scott R (kr) wrote: Not too bad, but not good or ugly either. Mostly I just had a hard time believing situations and the actions taken. For example the hanging had a religious aspect to it that Was far fetched. But it does break down some moral aspects of law and order involving judges and lynch mobs. In that aspect it was kind of unique.

Jon P (ru) wrote: Orson Welles' notorious noir has polarised critics for generations, but there's no denying the quality of the film's audacious visual style.Characterised by skewed camera angles, extreme close-ups and breezy surrealism, Welles' film looks fabulous from start to finish; even when its storytelling makes absolutely no sense. The film's dreamy narrative is never dreary, but the script juggles a sweet sense of humour with a sickening sense of over-complication, and the two don't always comfortably mix.The final act takes place somewhere between The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and The Twilight Zone - and the entire set piece is utterly shattering. Just be aware that there's a fair few sweaty foreheads, sultry whispers and low quality Irish slurs to sit through en route.
