Electroshock, insulin therapy, and lobotomies were commonplace. Once inside, the filmmakers quickly discovered that they were not alone.

(kr) wrote: Solid adaptation of a 6-part comic book set during the late fifties, featuring Justice League members who not only must come to terms with their disenchantment of the US government's paranoid anti-communist persecutions, but must also save the world from an ancient threat that awakens to destroy it in the wake of the nuclear age. Comic book fans will love seeing retro versions of their favourite heroes (Green Lantern in particular is well presented) in a sprawling, adventure packed yarn that tantalizes with it's historical references and stylized design - although the animation, as usual with many of these straight-to-dvd Warner Bros. comic adaptations, errs on the side of minimalistic.

(ag) wrote: A tense thriller with stunning performances from Joan Crawford and Jack Palance. Crawford in particular takes it to another level when her character learns that her husband is plotting to kill her. It's a well-made classic! (First and only viewing - 1/29/2017)
(nl) wrote: Mind bending time travel that left my mind bended at the end. Actually watched this film twice to take in the nuances I missed the first time around. One must remind that this is science fiction and time travel is impossible in reality and so one shouldn't spoil the enjoyment of the film by trying to make sense of it. To fully grasp the plot, one must however, pay close attention to the dates and the correct chronology of events so as to follow the transformation of the woman (Sarah Nook) into the man (Ethan Hawke). At some point in the future, Ethan would travel back again to cause events to happen, among which, to make sure Sarah would be born to begin the never ending time loop. The great moral question and theme of the story is that if time travel was possible, can one change the past to get a new future? Or has the past already factored in the event of time travel of someone from the future. So nothing really changes or can be changed. It is just an endless loop of events because everything has been predestined to happen, including the time travelling events.

(gb) wrote: Very enjoyable story of the Martians attacking in an alternate Earth. There are lots of interesting characters, but sadly there wasn't much development at all. The animation was very good overall, as was the story.

(mx) wrote: This1948 film directed by Howard Hawks is one of the great Westerns of all-time. Starring John Wayne and Montgomery Clift, it really is good. I wasn't getting into it for the first 20mins, but then it took hold. Both Wayne and Clift are excellent. A great film all movie lovers should check out!
