(mx) wrote: i knew this movie was bad but this bad? no thats not possible. this film is awful! its unfunny, non sensicle, stupid, boring, childish and a truly awful film. i love the asterix comics but this is just dissapointing. this film is so bad that not even the actors could act. if you think this film is good then... say goodbye to yakity yak!
(gb) wrote: I was surprised how easily this film grabbed my attention and didn't let go until the end credits rolled - not a bad introduction to Eastern cinema for one who has never ventured there. A sweet and sentimental film, in a good way of course.

(de) wrote: It's pretty bad. It has some moments, but it plays it too safe with every trope without being satirical.
(au) wrote: It's not as bad as you'd think. Robert Patrick is Funny, Demi Moore is sexy and Rumor Willis pulls off an impressive dramatical peformance for a young girl. But i think the only really redeeming quality was the striptease sequences. So i enjoyed the film enough, but i think my penis enjoyed it more. The majority of the acting was crap, but i have to give praise to Demi Moore because she really would have trained hard for this film and she did come off incredibly sexy.

David Spade's sarcasm played well off of Farley's character. They were a good duo.
(kr) wrote: Haha, this is pretty funny to watch, so I gave it a little better rating than I would have for others. It's still a painful early 90s joy ride and it's just a plug to buy Vanilla Ice CDs. The plot's basically Vanilla Ice trying to woo a preppy girl but her family doesn't like him until the end when he does something good for them. The film's very cliched, but really, would you take the time to watch a full Vanilla Ice movie? I watched a shortened version of it and it's just a hoot to see how cool this film was trying to be.

(br) wrote: Under Huston's direction and Capote's weak script, Bogart succeeds in delivering a charming little parody of '40s spy pictures. The witty dialogue and lightheartedness of the movie as a whole established Beat the Devil as one of the first cult classics of cinema. While not an extraordinary film, its casual approach and light mix of humor make it an enjoyable venture. It is definitely not Huston and Bogart's finest collaboration, but it nonetheless entertains.
