The power of an innocent daughter who's longing for her father became a beacon of light for the fellow inmates to make a 180degree turn with their lives. It also shows how the influential can maneuver justice in their favor and put the less-powerful in a dead-end situation. A story of joy of togetherness, family, friendship, hate, guilt, revenge, hope and forgiveness. Indeed, a tearjerker. Technically, actors are impeccable. Writing, editing & cinematography are all in tune with the director's vision of the film. An awesome 2hrs of realistic story-telling.

(au) wrote: This wonderful family fantasy film is often ignored even by fans of the original book, and it's about time people started looking at this great example of british animation more often. The acting is top-notch, the story is well-paced and charming, the designs are frighteningly cute (both ends of the spectrum appear), the animation is beautiful, the music is entrancing and, overall, it's a wonderful, wonderful movie. It's also a very decent adaptation of the original book. In fact, it's one of the only Roald Dahl-based movies that Mr. Dahl himself liked, even clapping at the end. So, I give this lovely, albeit underrated, movie 5 gold stars!PS: I'll do a video review on youtube as soon as I have time.
