Gordon S (gb) wrote: Excellent, lovely movie. Five Star. Very funny and very heartwarming. Great acting. Deserves a much high rating than 43%.

Kendra J (br) wrote: A fascinating documentary about a man who decided to build a log cabin in Alaska and live there for a year back in the 60s. Originally intended to be a "How to Build your own Log Cabin" film, this documentary is a fascinating glimpse into man's ingenuity and simple living. I would highly recommend this for anyone who is interested in the outdoors, self-sustaining living, or who anyone who's ever thought that it might be nice to just get away from everyone. My only criticisms for this documentary would be because of a few obviously anachronistic shots of Alaskan wildlife which were worked into the film. The quality difference between the stock shots and the footage actually filmed in the 60s is striking and it unnecessarily pulls you from being immersed in the storyline. Other than that, this is a fascinating story and an amazing look at all that one man can accomplish when armed with the right knowledge and tools.

Roy C (mx) wrote: A typical villain team scenario, only instead of the bad guys just fighting amongst themselves, one of them hijacks the whole fiasco. 'Time travel: it's a cornucopia of disturbing concepts.'

Dimitris S (ru) wrote: Amazing film.I believe I should stop reviewing here because the visual poetry of Corneau is captivating and the gregarious silence is the ideal depiction of the behavior, the conception of music as art.A supreme representation of the era and Guillaume Depardieu in a depressing role make this another modern masterpiece.

Wayne C (ru) wrote: The description is wrong. It should read:A man with a secret past moves his family from Japan to the USA. After arriving, the family is caught up in the middle of an organized crime caper. After suffering a terrible loss, the man returns to his roots to gain revenge against the criminals who threaten his family.

Kyle B (nl) wrote: I really still don't know how I felt about this. It was weird as hell but the overall story was weirder. As it played out it built in admiration for what it was trying to say. Great cinematography, visual effects, score, and direction from Ron Howard. I have no idea how Don Ameche won an Oscar for this he had little to do performance wise but the real shining stars are Jack Gilford, Wilford Brimley, and Jessica Tandy. I'm still up in the air about it but for now I'll say I liked it
