Charles P (es) wrote: Based on the autobiography of U.S. gymnast Dan Millman, this film is about more than sports and training for Olympic competition. I streamed it last night on Netflix and found it riveting and inspirational. As the athlete's life mentor (NOT his coach), Nick Nolte makes this film memorable. Are you looking for more focus in your personal and professional life? This film might help you. Check it out. I liked the film so much I plan to read Millman's book.

Aaron C (br) wrote: an interesting story set in england and italy during the inter-world-war period. a difficult look at tradition, religion, imposition and dissolution. well-acted by the entire cast, from the dandy dumbledore to the chilly thompson, down to their troubled children and atheistic bad-boy goode. ultimately, it shows how a knee-jerk "progressive" society devoid of moral anchors ends up empty and scattered.

John T (br) wrote: I didn't love this one. Solid acting, but a weak plot. I've felt like I've seen this one a hundred times. Dysfunctional family, brother committed suicide, adultery and everyone trying to pick up the pieces. Complete indie, but just nothing exciting. Slow movies, whatever.

Deven P (fr) wrote: Probably the best of them, being funny, mostly talented actors/actresses, and, despite an unoriginal plot, will please even the most boring moviegoers (or non-moviegoers)!

Private U (ag) wrote: Four venal individuals contend for the affections/financial favours of an ageing but still powerful woman, whose tenderness for them all does not make her blind to their machinations. Gentle, intimate conversations are spiked with cruelty and manipulation so subtle they're barely noticeable at first. The camera is full of surprises, confining its characters to tight, difficult angles, or moving slowly around them for impossible perspectives and reflections. Very unusual (Francis Bacon-esque) use of colours (bright and beautiful but never garish) shows these cunning/desperate creatures in their true lights. Best movie I've seen in ages.
