Twelve-year-old Noura dangles uncertainly in that difficult netherworld between childhood and adulthood. Halfaouine: Boy of the Terraces torrent reviews

Leanne D (es) wrote: A wonderfully provocative movie that does what it's director, Gus Holwerda, intends. It shows a period of time on the road of two brilliant scientific minds, Richard Dawkins and Lawrence Krauss. Inspired by the format of the rock 'n' roll tour film, it shows a unique behind the scenes peek at these two authors as they promote science literacy and tear down the walls of ignorance and superstition. Hopefully this will inspire those who see it to read their books and to listen to the full debates online.

Jarrett M (nl) wrote: Severance is a humurous horror film with a decent cast that will provide a good 90 mins of entertainment, but won't impress, amaze, or redefine the genre. The story is a little generic compared to similar films in order to set things up, but it never feels to boring or stale as the film progresses. The film does play with your expectations at times, but never does get to the point of a full commentary on the genre like Scream or The Cabin in The Woods. It also lacks the amount of laughs that other horror comedies bring to the table. The cast does a fine job with their characters, and while there are no clear standouts, Laura Harris and Danny Dyer probably bring the most memorable performances to the table. My biggest issue with the film was the threat to the main characters. Unless I missed something, there seemed to be no reasoning as to why they where trying to kill off everyone. Not really a big issue for me, but would have been nice to have a bit of backstory there. In all, an entertaining film, but most things that this movie does have been done better by others. A mild recommendation, worth a look if you come across it, but i wouldn't say you need to go out of your way to see it.

Gordon A (ca) wrote: Interesting tale of culture clash at a Romanian train station linked to historical events. Similar themes to the WWII 'Americans oversexed and overhere' films of the 80's.

Libby S (de) wrote: The behaviour portrayed by Tracy & Evie in this dramatic coming of age film is more than just rebelling teenagers and together go over the edge beyond their own expectations and control. The emotion depicted is raw & harrowing - heightened by the unconventional more basic filming you lose yourself within the story and at the end having to remind myself they're thirteen - encompassing the roles of all characters creates an emotionally numbing performance, "Kids (1995)" could take a lot from this.

David L (de) wrote: A unique mixture of Brechtian self-reflexivity and urban neorealism, Zhang Yang's inventive "Zuotian" ("Quitting") paints a cinematic portrait of heroin addiction in Beijing quite unlike anything done before. Actors play themselves, and a final title card explains that Hongsheng's story was an entirely real one - but the film, remarkably, doesn't fall into documentary tedium nor based-on-true-story melodrama. Scenes are slow and long takes plenty in Zhang Yangs trademark indie style which he advances from his acclaimed 1999 feature "Shower". Even for those not familiar with the Sixth Generation director's work, though, the genuine "Quitting" makes essential viewing.

Don S (it) wrote: This was a really engaging movie. Even though I don't think I heard a Russian accent among the actors, I still was engrossed. Jeffrey DeMunn was perfect as the uber crazy serial killer!

Jason M (jp) wrote: Amarcord means "amaro" and "ricordo", translates to "love and "memory". This is a nostalgia film, based on Fellini's youth in a seaside village. It presents Fellini's deep character development and draws you in to the daily life of the protagonist youth and the citizens in town.

Shiela E (au) wrote: my least favorite Hitchcock film. the plot is so complicated as to be almost nonsensical, there are no real "stars" in the cast to draw you in, and it is too long. there are a few good scenes here and there though full of the typical hitchcock touches, but there are not nearly enough. if you love Hitch as much as I do, this is worth a look, but I would only recommend seeing it once or twice at the most.

Doug D (gb) wrote: Inspiring movie that simply tells the story of a man's love for God, a woman, and his brother.
