Johnny T (ca) wrote: Silenced is difficult to watch, and it should be. Unsettlingly graphic but important expos of the abuse of hearing-impaired children in Korea stirs the emotions in the most elemental way. Silenced's greatest strength is the performances of its young stars, all of whom do powerful, heartbreaking work. And yes, drama goofball Gong Yoo is also good. But the film belongs to the child actors, who transcend the controversial subject by conveying such a complex combination of pain, confusion and resilience one instantly roots for them. A court scene where Yeon-du outwits an intimidating lawyer by turning her hearing impairment into an advantage is an unabashedly uplifting moment. The fact that this storyline is based on a real life experience makes it all the more chilling. This movie doesn't aim to entertain. It aims to tell you the reality - as it is. Parts of this movie will make your skin crawl, and other parts will make you want to throw something very hard. It is not an easy ride, this film. The abuse is harrowing to watch, though restrained and in no way explicit in execution. The raw and critical illumination of Korean society's deficiencies filmed on the basis of the suffering of individual characters and also the added fact that all of this is based on a true story makes Silenced an extraordinary drama.VERDICT: "High-Quality Stuff" - [Positive Reaction] This is a rating to a movie I view as very entertaining and well made, and definitely worth paying the full price at a theatre to see or own on DVD. It is not perfect, but it is definitely excellent. (Films that are rated 3.5 or 4 stars)

Lucas N (ag) wrote: While Dickie Roberts isn't too bad, I have to give it such a low score because of just how lazy this movie feels. You don't get the sense that anyone cared about the movie. Spade just pumped out a script, gave it to some burnt out producer, then they filmed it in under a week with a cast and director just seeking out a quick check in the hopes of not working on another film of this caliber. What I look for in movies is passion, an actual connection with their stories. That's what makes great filmmakers, people eager to get their stories told. I may not know Spade personally, but I can say with honesty that he could care less whether or not people watched this, so long as he got paid. If you think differently Mr. Spade I must say, I think I'm right on this.

Alex r (gb) wrote: Sequel to the awesome Maniac Cop, Maniac Cop 2 is one awesome ride. Not as great as the original, this still manages to deliver awesome Horror thrills mixed with loads of low budget action. For me, the films in this series are by far the best B movie films ever made in the horror genre. They are loads of fun, despite being sleazy and feeling cheap at times. However the filmmakers obviously knew how to pull out something very good despite the fact that the film feels low budgeted. But who cares, right? All the best and greatest horror films of the late 70's and 80's were low budget films. Maniac Cop is just another example of a low budget classic. In this sequel, we get a bit more action than the first and Larry Cohen's script offers just the right amount of both elements(action and horror) to please the audience. In one scene, theres almost an homage to the first Terminator film as the Maniac Cop commits a massacre in a police precinct. The cast here are good Robert Davi is probably the best known actor in the film as he played in Licence To Kill and Die Hard. Robert Davi plays a tough cop on Matt Cordell's trail who is played Robert Z'dar. William Lustig's direction is again, impressive and he manages to get the most out of the actors and achieve a film with lots of action and horror. Matt Cordell is a very unique villain as he helps the criminals and not the victims, he kills the victims and Z'dar plays that character with phenomenal chilling perfection. All in all, not as great as the original, but still awesome in it's own right, and as far as sequels go, Maniac Cop 2 is a terrific follow up to a neglected classic of the horror genre. Maniac Cop 2 is one of the best horror sequels that I have ever seen, violent, horrifying and action packed, this will definitely appeal to fans of the first.

Will L (it) wrote: While I liked 'Beverly Hills Cop' better, '48 Hrs.' is another example of Eddie Murphy in his action-comedy niche, and Nolte gives a pretty good performance as well.

Brad G (au) wrote: "The date for your hanging has not been set. In the meantime, obey the rules." Kirk Douglas outcharms all others as "The Son of a Bitch" outlaw imprisoned on account of a whorehouse peephole. His moral clash with Henry Fonda's warden is goofy and jovial, but the climax reveals a mean bastard behind the scalawag's smile and the cutesy comedy score simply masks the cynical ideals of a 1970s Western. A great cast lead by two of Hollywood's greatest talents, do not let this film remain forgotten. VF.
