This movie will not sit with you long after you've left the theater however, the second is very true. The entire movie is a natural collection of father and son moments....why? Because Isaac in the movie is Mark's real life son.I understand that the film was trying to convey accepting death and moving forward however I don't think Mark knew exactly how to execute that without being blatant which is exactly what happens towards the end with the goldfish. What Mark has done is make a movie about his life with a few situations distorted (his wife is not dead, they are separated). After watching the film, I knew Isaac had to be his son because there was no way a child that young could give such a raw and real performance. Sure enough, Mark had a friend follow them around with a camera, the kid never knew he was making a movie, which adds to it's realism. What we get is a natural father/son relationship that I don't think can be duplicated. The main problem lies in the story/plot, it's pretty much MIA. Mark has no money and can't get any gigs (insert cameo here by actor playing him/her self), is alone, "struggling" to take care of Isaac and trying to fill the void of his passed girlfriend with Shannyn Sossaman and some Jocelyn chick. I kept thinking throughout the movie, "why doesn't get a JOB while he tries to book a gig?"Aside from the lack thereof of a good plot, it will be intriguing to see what Mark comes up with next, albeit he doesn't base another movie on his personal life.
Hunter D (kr) wrote: A look at the situation in Baghdad from the point-of-view of metalheads who just want to play heavy music, but the hand they've been dealt prevents them from doing even that. It's very eye-opening in that you see sides of the war in Iraq that you don't see on the evening news, and how difficult it is to get any information on what's going on over there. The documentary seems to have been made under risky/uncertain circumstances, so it almost feels incomplete by the end. It's great viewing for any fan of heavy metal just so you can see how something you take for granted like being able to cut loose at a metal show or wear your band T-shirts is something other people just like you can't do. The film's abrupt and half-finished feel keep it from being a truly great documentary, but it's one that fans and non-fans of this music alike should partake in.
Kyle W (au) wrote: not a bad film at all for being low budget horror. most of the time low budget horror is the best, being more gorey and more entertaining than hot shot company releases focusing on fright more than death. anywho tom seizmore was decent, getting alot older and career is fading but did good in bottom feeder. and loved the scientific experiment gone wrong, the rat was immense, and frightening and a joy to watch, especially when it came to kill victims. good acting, great storyline. bottom feeder is a good watch.

He even leaves the tags on his clothes as a fashion statement, gets the girl and delivers that immortal line "Drop the zero and get with the hero". A masterpiece, it's hard to believe that its director of photography would go on to work for Speilberg and win two academy awards.
Paul D (au) wrote: Low budget horror with cult value. It's pretty much a story dealing with loss and this is expressed mostly through the father figure as the film progresses. The zombie storyline is an interesting way to express this.
