I love fantasy movies like Legend or Blade Runner and Time Bandits but when you try to mix fantasy and gangster, well sometimes not that easy to succeed; I have to say this is one of the worse movie i've seen in a long time. I almost felt sorry for the comedians who have to put this on their resum that is unless you also drank the kool-aid...

(nl) wrote: Linear...for a 1st time director it was well crafted. Not in the genre of marigold n strawberry fields, the subject picked on the oft captured emotion of the 'climbers'. But explained selfishness by not deriding its cliches but as a disease that afflicts. A natural progression as your luck transitions. It was a laid out, make the most of it as luck deluges you kinda tale without the obvious moral of the story closure. Thank God.

(ru) wrote: The first movie left out most of what was good in the book. This movie sucks out all the rest. This movie is terrible.
(kr) wrote: Worst movie ever. I'd rather have my eyes gouged out before seeing it again...very disappointing considering the talent.
(us) wrote: This is the most depression movie ever... at first you feel nothing for him but once you start to believe he could be normal the doctors rip your heart out and stomp on it... too bad he had to go back to being unhappy and dying. this is a once in a life time movie.

(it) wrote: I'm not sure whether the horror lies in the story itself (a vengeful female ghost returns 50 years later to destroy her killers) or in the fact that we can see how age has ravaged such popular matinee idols as Doug Fairbanks, Jr., Fred Astaire, and Melvyn Douglas or producer extraordinaire John Houseman. Indeed, such a fate lies in store for us! But hopefully not the vengeful ghost part. Nondescript Craig Wasson stumbles into the story which remains absorbing (if not frightening) for the first 2/3 and then, in the reveal-all flashback from the 1930s, the less than excellent acting (and the absence of our old leads) makes everything go flat. Overall though, the blend of schlocky horror and somewhat stately drama is pulled off (by the standards of the very dodgy horror genre where masterpieces are slim pickings indeed) -- but one would have hoped for better for these old guys ending their careers.
(au) wrote: Very good man on the run movie with some interesting side characters. Though Hitchcock would rework it better in North by Northwest still entertaining and has a couple great suspenseful moments.
(au) wrote: I liked this a bit more than most other people did. Yes, there are problems with this movie, but it was so weird that it kept me interested all the way through. I wish they had spent more time on characterization than they did, but for what it is, I did not mind it. I hope we get the heavily implied sequel!
