A wealthy Los Angeles teen and her superficial friends wants to break out of suburbia and experience Southern California's "gangsta" lifestyle. But problems arise when the preppies get in over their heads and provoke the wrath of a violent Latino gang. Suddenly, their role-playing seems a little too real.

A pair of naive young girls learn that even the most insignificant actions can have lasting consequences. Influenced by the hip-hop thug lifestyle and seeking to explore life outside of their insulated, culturally homogenized suburb, pretty young teenagers Allison and Emily set their sights on East L.A. to experience the "gangsta" lifestyle firsthand. By the time the pair meet a ruthless Mexican drug dealer named Hector, some true-life Latino gang-bangers, and realize just how far out of their element they really are, it may already be too late to turn back . David S (ag) wrote: Margin Call is a good business thriller. It keeps tension high with peoples jobs on the line and the future of a company in jeopardy. The performances are all top notch across the board. Jeremy Irons steals the show with his cold, demeanor. Kevin Spacey is good as always and Paul Bettany is great as well. Unfortunately the subject matter just doesn't grasp me and keep me interested. It reminded me of the Big Short, its just really hard for me to stay interested. Still a solid watch.

Eric T (jp) wrote: I love 90's Cheese... and so should you! This movie is absolutely hilarious. It pays homage to classics through the characters names and various movie posters through out. It's about this movie editter/cutter named ed. He is constanly forced to watch and cut a famous movie series containing sleeze, death, sleeze and more death. Eventually he goes crazy and goes on a rampage related to the movies. It's a damn bloody fun time.

Grant H (ag) wrote: Ok movie. While the Rapture concept has been sort of overplayed as of late, it does have a few interesting ideas, including setting it after the event. Unfortunately, a lot of its jokes are pretty lame, and its script is too blatantly over sexual, especially in regards to the Anti-Christ. It boasts a talented cast, and they try pretty well, but it's not quite enough to completely save this.

Steve C (it) wrote: This movie reunites Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg for what I think is the first time since the delightful Adventureland. These two play very well together. They are like Charles Farrell and Janet Gaynor with a high level of screen chemistry that they are hard to resist. (I was watching them a couple weeks ago on TCM)Adventureland was more or less a teen coming of age rom-com, a good one. To reunite they make a very good choice with American Ultra. It retains some of the rom-com elements but puts it all into a CIA conspiracy sci-fi action movie. I thought it worked and that if they wanted they could continue with this in sequel. There is a lot of violent action and blood. It is mostly a sort of lucid chamber music violence, not the big confusing orchestrated violence commonly found in mega budget product. And the stars get some very well done two character scenes together. We also get an amusing performance by the great John Leguizamo ( yes I'm the person who thinks The Pest is a good movie), as Mike's pot dealer buddy. A really fine entertainment product.
