At best, I expected it to be so bad that it's actually funny, but this movie is so bad that it really is bad. Honestly, what can I say about this movie that isn't howlingly obvious? The story is shockingly ludicrous and terrible, the characters are stupid and forgettable, and the special effects are below sub-par. If that wasn't bad enough, this seems to remind me of another ridiculously terrible movie with a nonsensical, "The Giant Claw". Seriously, the similarities between this and The Giant Claw are frightening. It's almost as though this movie was The Giant Claw for the 2000's. The only difference I can think of is that they at least tried with the production values. I don't have much else to say about this movie, other than the fact that it's nothing but a putrid waste of time that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemies.

(es) wrote: Although Psycho IV is directed by Mick Garris(who is widely known for his work on a lot of Stephen King adaptations)and it is written by Joseph Stefano who wrote the original Psycho this movie is still nowhere as good as the first two Psycho movies but the movie is a huge improvement over Psycho III. Psycho IV The Beginning is the conclusion of the Psycho series where Norman Bates is released from the institution after the events of Psycho III and is married to one of the staff Connie. Norman calls Fran Ambro and he shares his childhood life about him and his mother and we also get to learn the origins of Norman Bates and how he became deranged and crazy through a series of flashbacks that takes place before the events of the original Alfred Hitchcock classic. I love this movie a lot I remember watching this film back when I was a grade six student and I loved it a lot and watching it for the second time still hasn't changed my mind and I didn't have any problems with it at all and I just adore the way Joseph Stefano worked on this movie a lot with the help of director Mick Garris the film's pace is solid and a lot better than ever. What I like about Psycho IV is that the film has a way better plot than Psycho III due to its concept and promising premise and Stefano managed to create a strong Horror film that surpass all of the missing elements from Psycho III and lately I just adore the way the movie is told a lot and its nice to have Joseph Stefano back on working in the Psycho films since he had no involvement over the first two sequels. The other things that is nice about Psycho IV is that the movie has a lot of magnificent colors and the colors of the movie is fantastic and the way the blood looks like in the movie is so pure red even the opening scene of the film has some great colors and the movie also possess an excellent quality and the movie looks more of an 80's film rather than a 90's movie because the film is still using the same sound effects and the look of the film still looks 80's instead of 90's and I just love the colors and quality of this film a lot. What I also like about Psycho IV is that the film has a couple of intense kills that are a bit messy and some are just intense. The opening kill scene of this movie is messy and very bloody and after a messy kill the kills then change into intense rather than super messy and all of the kills like the girl in the car and pushed to the swamp and drowns is a pretty intense kill and Olivia Hussey's death totally fits well for the Psycho mythology and I overall love the kills of this film. While the last things I like about this film is that the movie has a lot of amateurish editing and the editing of this film is just wonderful and I love the editing of the film a lot. The biggest problem with Psycho IV is that the film is missing the plot points of Psycho II and III and focus more on how Norman killed his mother and go insane rather than adding the plot of Mrs. Spool but its ok at least and its great enough to see the Psycho franchise end. Now the acting is great and the performances of the casts in this movie are even better than the performances of the casts in Psycho III. Anthony Perkins did a good job as always with his role in the film as Norman Bates and its too bad this was his last film before he died. Olivia Hussey did an excellent job with her role in the movie as Norman's mother and Henry Thomas delivers a perfect performance as the young Norman Bates and I enjoy the performances of the casts a lot in this film. Director Mick Garris did a fantastic job with his work on this movie and he totally beat Psycho III thanks to all of the amazing ideas of this film a lot and thanks also to writer Joseph Stefano the film ends in a satisfying way rather than a terrible way and I hope that Mr. Garris makes another Stephen King adaptation because he did a good job with this one along with his other films like Sleepwalker and more and Garris' film may have lacked the griping perplexity of the original and the dark intensity of Psycho II but ihe did a fantastic job with his work on this film and it beats Psycho III a lot. Overall Psycho IV The Beginning gets an 8/10 because the movie may not have the goodies of the first two Psycho films but it totally beats the problems of Psycho III.
