Giovanni M (fr) wrote: Soul Surfer is based on a great story that could make for a great movie but it's sappy and filled with hokey sentiment.

Michael M (de) wrote: If Michael Keaton's "Batman" were Rated R it would be this cult classic. Admittedly it looks a little dated in 2016 but it was pretty fucking excellent in 1990. If only Liam had stuck around for the sequels.

Randy L (kr) wrote: it was good. worth seeing.

Chris C (ag) wrote: With mind-blowing visual effects and a well-written script and story, Stephen King's Firestarter benefits solidly from a scene-stealing performance by Drew Barrymore and the film's supporting cast including George C. Scott and Martin Sheen.

Cody L (gb) wrote: Jamie Lee Curtis' best horror film post-Halloween.

Kerby H (de) wrote: It has a good cast, good story and it's almost kind of funny. However, it's a disaster movie.

Kimberley S (gb) wrote: Josh and Jaime were fun to watch together... couldn't wait to see what would happen to them next!

Valerie P (ru) wrote: I tend to avoid the tearjerkers. I'm sentimental enough without being sold a sad story. This film, however, seemed a little bit different than those other "I've got a disease"-type-dramas. This was the real-life story of Mary-Claire King, the geneticist who discovered the breast cancer mutation gene; proving that there was a hereditary link between breast cancer victims. I always feel that scientists are the world's true heroes, and so I tuned in. In truth, the movie focused more upon the life of Annie Parker, the three times cancer survivor who contributed to King's research. I've been fascinated by Samantha Morton, the actress who plays Annie Parker, ever since I saw Minority Report; and so I was drawn to Morton's performance. In a friendly, engaging narrative, the character of Annie Parker tells her story. It felt very tangible, and indeed if cancer has ever affected your life in any way it makes certain scenes that much harder to watch. This story doesn't get bogged down in pithiness, however. Overall it is about a triumph of knowledge. It is about the connections we make in this life. Most importantly, there is a pervading message of hope throughout. Annie Parker is one extraordinary woman.
