William T (ca) wrote: Moonrise Kingdom is another movie directed by Wes Anderson that bares his distinctive and unique mark. The movie is set on set on an island, where Sam, a khaki scout who is orphaned, falls in love with Suzy, a girl who reads a lot to escape from reality.
Nick M (it) wrote: The acting is pretty painful at some parts, and the characters are sloppily written and uninteresting, but the thing that saves Solomon Kane from complete failure is its dazzling visuals and well executed action.

Knowing what the film was about before watching it made me pick up on and analyze things that the father, mother, and other people involved said about Marla's work and the frenzy surrounding it. While this part of the film was done very well the most interesting aspect of the movie to me is how the filmmaker and family interact and how the purpose of the documentary evolves throughout the movie. I would recommend this to anyone who has even a faint interest in art or the art world. One of the few times I wasn't disappointed in an abrupt ending.
John S (ru) wrote: It definitely drives at it's aim (like a scorned truck driver after a bottle of bourbon) to immerse one's self into the mind of a schizophrenic, but also surprisingly at its aim to change your perceptions of a schizophrenic or of anyone who is tagged as "mentally ill." it's very beautiful, very touching, and very disturbing and creepy at the same time. which i think is the mark of a fantastic film. peter greene delivers one of the most incredible performances EVER. what's most amazing is his ability to play a mentally disturbed man without being over-the-top or unbelievable. amazing.

Allan C (es) wrote: Solid Andr De Toth crime B-picture. Sterling Hayden headlines the film as a cop trying to stop a gang who've escaped from prison and are trying to recruit a former member who wants to go straight. For a low-budget picture, it's got a solid supporting cast that includes Dub Taylor, Timothy Carey in one of his characteristic lunatic roles and also a young Charles Buchinsky (later known as Charles Bronson). It's well made with a solid script and some nice LA location shooting gives the film a nice gritty feel. Well worth watching for fans of the genre.

Grant H (ru) wrote: Pretty average movie. With cheesy one-liners, good effects, a decent plot, and good performances from the cast, it's a watchable movie that doesn't kill the audience's minds.
