First up, there's a lot of loose ends that never get resolved in the end, and I was left to scratch my head wondering what really happened. Second, too much of the turning points are done so choppily, and there was just way too much exposition on what was behind Ploning's secrets. But what really killed it for me was the way the climactic reveal was done, it was just too blunt and dry. What a waste as I really thought the setting was so beautiful and truly Filipino. But I have to say I was impressed that the dialogue used was the one they really spoke in Cuyo. But yeah, all in all, I was really unimpressed with this :(

(kr) wrote: Kieslowski not only knows the depth of passion and compassion, but also of obsession. Here he delves deeply, but subtly, into the psyche of a man, whose life has turned upside down because of a simple tool: an 8mm-film Camera. Stunning Intro and finale with some really clever camera work to highlight the meta-dramatic nature of the film.

He saw Candy buried and tries to tell people but since he is mute and creepy no one pays much attention to him.
(br) wrote: Quite possibly the weirdest film I've ever experienced. Part documentary on Reich, the psychoanalyst who invented a box to absorb orgasm-power, & part propaganda film, swaying the populace to embrace free love for the communist machine. Also, lots of Yugoslav cocks waving in the wind. So get naked, learn some shit, & have a big ole o-face.
