'Heights' follows five characters over 24 hours on a fall day in New York City. Isabel, a photographer, is having second thoughts about her upcoming marriage to Jonathan, a lawyer. On the same day, Isabel's mother Diana learns that her husband has a new lover and begins to re-think her life choices and her open marriage. Diana and Isabel's paths cross with Alec, a young actor, and with Peter, a journalist. As the interrelated stories proceed, the connections between the lives of the five characters begin to reveal themselves and their stories unravel. Isabel, Jonathan, Diana, Alec, and Peter must choose what kind of lives they will lead before the sun comes up on the next day.

It's bombastic, it's over-the-top, it's supremely silly, and best of all there's just nothing else like Machete Kills going on today in modern cinema. Yes, it's a throwback, but if you can embrace the spectacle and just enjoy the madness of Machete Kills, then I think you're in for a real treat. If you can't do those things, well then maybe Machete Kills just isn't for you. For me though, I hope they make 10 more Machete movies.

Regarded as the film that launched the Hong Kong comedy/horror genre, we find our "brave" hero, Sammo Hung, in grave need of help from the clutches of Chinese sorcery. Plus, he's got one hell of a marital problem. Puns aside, I highly recommend this flick from beginning to end (and oh, what an end!). Many critics cite that Sammo was the Bruce Campbell of this genre. The UK release's cover even implied it influenced Sam Raimi. I'll leave it to you to make the correlations. For six bucks through Wal-Mart's website, my Halloween movie marathon was complete. So, gather a bunch of friends and enjoy!
