Carol H (ru) wrote: This movie tries to be "How to Train Your Dragon", but fails miserably. It lacks the believability, balance, and execution that made "Dragon" work so well.

Chris H (ca) wrote: Probably the worst film I have ever seen. It has absolutely nothing to say and isn't funny at all, considering it is supposed to be a comedy. I'm astonished why so many great actors were involved with this - it's seriously full of them; Rockwell, Buscemi, Trejo, Parks, Stormare and more - I can only assume they all owed this director a favour? As no one would agree to work on this project after reading the script, surely. Add to this terrible music, a really unforgivably amateur approach and look, and a terrible story and you've got what must have been the worst release of 2002.

Nicholas L (ag) wrote: Saving Private Ryan is an immersive experience using eye level camera shots, wide cinematography, grainy filters, and reflective screenplay to suck you into the emotional drama of the soldiers of World War II and the third act is a beautiful example of good writing and production design.

Geoff J (nl) wrote: yep it's a late 90s indiewood romcom, so cue jazzy elevator music as it hits you over the head with just how 'subtle' it is in dealing with 'complex' human emotions...you can have as many great character actors as you want, but if you've nothing to say, and no real flair in saying it, you end up with something like this turd...

Guido S (mx) wrote: After having watched both this version and the 2014 version close to one another, this one does not quite live up to the book, but still enjoy this one. Basically a mother takes her children to live with her parents while her father is dying in hopes of winning him back for marrying someone who isn't related to her. However, the kids can't be seen so no one knows they exist and they are poisoned to kill them off. The son and daughter begin to get close as in the book, but don't go farther than that. The ending on this was a little dumb and probably my least favorite part with the wedding and weird death. Otherwise a pretty interesting movie with nothing to do with the book. Probably most notable for Kristy Swanson as the daughter who would go on to be Buffy in the movie version.
