Hell on Wheels

Hell on Wheels

Year after year hundreds of thousands of fans line the route of the Tour de France, cheering on their heroes and willing them to victory, while millions of viewers worldwide tune in on their televisions. Academy Award-winning director Pepe Danquart, fascinated by the spectacle of the three week race, chose to focus on the courage, the pain and the fear of the riders of the Tour. Training his lens on German superstar sprinter Eric Zabel and his loyal domestique Rolf Aldag, Danquart captures the thrill of the race and the teamwork behind the stars of the peleton. He also shines light on the Tour's supporting cast - the director sportifs, masseurs, and, of course, the wildly enthusiastic fans. Reveling in the stunning landscape - from the Alps to the Pyrenees to the Massif Central to Paris - and with a nice dollop of Le Tour's history, HELL ON WHEELS transcends the sport it celebrates to reveal an astonishing human endeavor.

Nick M (br) wrote: great rockumentary. I like the pixies music, but feel bad for them as people. I feel less inclined to see them live now.

Julie K (de) wrote: A great movie, a must see for skiing fans.

Lee M (it) wrote: Somehow manages to turn what could have been a lowbrow sex farce into something at once funny and sweetly innocent -- no small feat indeed.

Steve W (gb) wrote: When a newspaper makes a bad claim and slanders the daughter of a rich man, they are faced with giant lawsuit that will destroy the paper. Wily editor Haggerty hatches a crazy plan: re-hire someone he fired a while back, marry him to his fiance, and then lure the playgirl daughter to fall so the libel suit is tossed out. What follows is a zany plot, but its the four main leads who sell this movie, going all out in their respective roles. Its a lot of fun when everyone is giving 100%, for a solid screwball comedy from the 30's.

Bill J (ag) wrote: Lucy Liu was adorable and Jeremy Northam was excellent.

Daniel Z (fr) wrote: The beginning seems to have nothing to do with the plot but is made to introduce the different Masters of Martial Arts and show their fighting styles. Other than that Ip Man is a great movie showing actual Martial Arts and doing to much of an Rip Off what people imagine when hearing Martial Arts. So, if you like to see well choreographed fight scenes you have to watch the movie. Just don't expect it to be historical accurate at all times.

WS W (br) wrote: Not so interesting, until the appearance of Justin Kirk & Gillian Anderson.
