(us) wrote: hard to believe this is based on a true story....seems more like something mel brooks would dream up. a jew that went over to the russians who then went over to the nazis and then became a member of hitler youth.
(ru) wrote: What a shitfest of a movie this is. Pure popcorn, with plots from Jurassic Park, The Beast from 20,000 Phatoms and Independence Day, all rehashed into one huge piece of crap that for no reason whats or ever is called Godzilla.
(br) wrote: Forget Plan 9 From Outer Space, THIS is the absolute worst film in history!

Offers commentary on 50s America. Farley Granger is sort of an early Keanu Reeves, though, and like any 'Bonnie and Clyde'-type story, it's difficult to buy that the girl would actually go with the guy.

So much in-fact, it's almost depressing. That's not to say there aren't a few joyful moments in the film, it's definitely a harsh reality as-well as an insightful way to express the issues that flood today's educational system in America. But it's much more then that, which is what I like the most about the film. It's an entire metaphor about life, it's ups and downs, how it effects everyone differently and how each individual person copes. It's symbolic in how it expresses that there is hope for those who struggle long enough to find it, if you've yet to lose yourself. If your deep into indie dramas, I say this is a good pick. Be warned, it's gloomy.
(gb) wrote: A mixed bag of emulating the best and worst of Bond history for the 20th 007 film, the fun but far from fantastic Die Another Day excellently mirrors the classic wit and spit of the Connery years while unfortunately embracing the over-the-top action and corny gadgets of the Moore era. The good: With Jinx, the producers give viewers an invigorating superspy equal to Bond with an actress awesome enough to realize her kick-ass abilities. The bad: With eye-rolling gizmos such as an invisible car and a palace made of ice, the special effects take center stage over the story. Oh, and Madonna plays a fencing instructor. In this PG-13-rated spy thriller, James Bond (Brosnan) gets sent to investigate the connection between a North Korean terrorist and a diamond mogul who is funding the development of an international space weapon. For his last outing as 007, Brosnan steps up his performance from the previous adventure, which sported sub-standard material that did little for inspiration. Likewise, Berry presents filmgoers with someone who's intriguingly much more than a mere Bond Girl, sharpening the rough edges of a character so enjoyable that she nearly got her own spin-off. Still, for all of Bond and Jinx's entertaining and action-packed interplay, there are laughable stumbles. For instance, the big bad is Colonel Moon, a North Korean villain with diamonds imbedded in his skin who uses gene therapy technology to alter his appearance. Oh, and Madonna plays a fencing instructor.Bottom line: Madonna and Child-Like
(it) wrote: As far as animations go this was pretty basic and poor, Bery predictable and the fact that the name sake is hardly in it makes it pretty boring and a big let down, I can't comment on the 3D as I watched the 2D version but it might of been pretty good, With a big voice cast I expected so much better but ends up ruining a good classic.
(de) wrote: It's certainly innovative and very funny when it tries to be, but it's hard to escape the notion that the film is slight and often more tiring than great.
(kr) wrote: This film is better and more solid than most b-grade fair of similar nature. With a decent cast consisting of veterans like Billy Zane, Tricia helfer, Dennis Hopper, Ann-Margret and Terry Chen the acting is better than most films of this stature. I've seen so many films with similar stories and they're often confusing, poorly put together and hard to follow but Memory manages to stay consistent and coherent the entire time. The "puzzle" has all it's pieces and with little effort, can be put together. The film isn't scary as far as I'm concerned and doesn't really try to be. It's mostly a mystery/thriller with aspects of science and horror mixed in. You can either try and figure things out (some are obvious, others aren't) or you can sit back and let the mystery unfold. If you like the idea of a serial killer murder mystery Memory is worth a rental.
