Gavin S (au) wrote: Directed by the same guy who did the original Beverly Hills Cop (Martin Brest) this one has the feel and attitude of that crossed with the antics of Planes, Trains and Automobiles. DeNiro in one of his earliest, and best, comedic roles, still has teeth, and is paired perfectly with deadpan Charles Grodin. Bounty Hunter and Bounty flee cross country from the FBI (Yaphet Kotto), mob boss (the late great Dennis Farina), and rival bounty hunter (John Ashton, Beverly Hills Cop) in a cross country race to deliver the bail jumper on time. Not too much action, not too much forced comedy, but a solid blend, and what feel like natural character development grows between Grodin and DeNiro. If this were remade today, the body count would be huge, the explosions mindless, and the humour lacking...one of the best action buddy crime/cop comedies of the 80s. Well worth a watch.

Michael T (ca) wrote: John Phillip Law is gone, replaced by the Duke's son, Patrick Wayne. Wayne starred in a number of Amicus-produced adventure films around the time this movie came out (most notably, THE PEOPLE THAT TIME FORGOT). He looks the part but when he opens his mouth he sounds like his father, not an Arabic sailor. THE GOLDEN VOYAGE OF SINBAD featured future DR. WHO Tom Baker as the heavy; this film features a former DR. WHO, Patrick Troughton, as a good sorceror who aids Sinbad in his quest (and whose superior acting ability helps distract us from Wayne). Also a plus in the acting department is Jane Seymour as Sinbad's love interest. The plot is largely a rehash of previous Harryhousen fantasy films with the heroes travelling to a "lost continent" to find a sorcerous cure to lift a curse and are chased by the sorcerous heavy and his/her minions. Harryhousen's great stop-motion animation is hit and miss here, as it would be in CLASH OF THE TITANS. Worth watching if you are a fan of the genre.

Stephanie C (es) wrote: An amazingly good adaptation that modernizes the tale while retaining the original dialogue and themes. Patrick Stewart is marvelous as both the Ghost and Claudius and David Tennant is simply stunning as the distraught Prince of Denmark. Shot on location rather than on the stage, security cameras, video recorders, two-way mirrors, and so much more add a wonderful element to the epic tale of madness and revenge. P.S. The current description on FB for the film is wrong. Richard Burton is not in this adapation.

Shane K (ca) wrote: I don't know how, but this movie fell below my pitiful expectations. I sat down to watch this with my family about a year ago...I was thirteen and out of all of us should have been able to laugh at the fart jokes, but despite my immaturity I am able to comprehend that this film is absolute shit. I sat through the whole movie not laughing once. I DIDN'T LAUGH ONCE. Not a smile. Just like all of Adam Sandler's movies, it's boring, immature, a waste of my time, and plain idiotic. It's just like all of his other movies, manchild is dumb, learns to be a better person, and gets this reward he doesn't deserve. And OF COURSE he made a fuck ton of money off this.
