If only a lot of 'disaster' movies nowadays could take note, focusing on the minute as a way of exploring the grandeur, instead of dwelling on the spectacle. Incredibly relevant and excellently handled; very pragmatic and educated without being cold and preachy

99/100. It's a more conventional film by this giant auteur, but words won't suffice for describing the genius, accuracy and originality of divinity and faith seen through the eyes of a vulnerable man, featuring one of the most grandiose catharsis ever put to celluloid. Nazarn is shown as a modernist Christ, and through the surreal and experimental, neorealist scope of Buuel, this testament is innovation in avant-garde storytelling. Buuel always exalted religion and destroyed the Catholic Church as the monstrous, almost bourgeois human institution it always represented throughout the centuries. Also, let's exclude the religious fanatics with a narrow-minded perspective. So, why are so few films that capture the nature of Jesus Christ accurately? Let's throw away the fact that the Hollywood stamp, false rumors and flat, hipocrytical and inaccurate characters are always present

Overall it was interesting though. It doesn't always flow well however and there were some definite slow stretches and it tackles a lot of subjects. Well acted film, interesting story, nicely photographed

ould it be that after all the school shootings, this is finally available on dvd?. Still, my memories are fond. Not having seen this since I was young on a VHF station, I may remember this as being better than it actually is

It's not as great as I remember, but there were a couple of moments when I laughed really hard!

It was obvious that it ran on a small budget, but the murder scenes were still spine-tingling. The movie was a bit long, but each moment held my interest. Jeremy Davies, who is better known for his character as Daniel Faraday in the Lost TV series, was brilliant in his portrayal as Charles Manson. This made-for-tv movie tells the story of influential yet twisted Charles Manson who has led a group of people , eventually known as the Manson Family and the events that led to his arrest after organizing a series of murders

A masterpiece. The staging and camera movements are all superb and the anti-violence message never seems heavy-handed. The stunning Winter photography has more in common with later Theo Angelopoulos films than with Westerns from the 50's. A masterful Western from the great Andre De Toth
