Mary M (jp) wrote: This is bound to become a classic Australian movie. With a mix of languages and nationalities, this movie just falls into place in an absolutely hysterical way. An interesting range of characters from the illegal boat people with their varying motivations to the army reservists who try to catch them. You really don't understand the vastness of Australia until you try to walk across it.

On the other, some very harsh editing, heavy-handed directing and a soundtrack that needs cleaning up. The principal actors are good, with the exception of the boy. The supporting cast falls far behind adding to the conflicting impression. Though dated (not by the time it was set in, but by the year of its shooting) it is an oddly fascinating film. Added bonus: a very young Viggo Mortensen.

Private U (de) wrote: This movie is a true portrayal of colonial aggression of tangata whenua in Aotearoa/New Zealand, murder of innocents were rampant, the movie starts with the massacre of Corporal Te Wheke's entire village (Played by Anzac Wallance). He swears (in Maori) that he will exact revenge (utu) for the deaths of his family, for he is now a dead man anyway. I love this movie, because it is based on true events, it is a movie based around love of family, betrayal and the craziness of the civil war of New Zealand.

It starts off with some forged Jewellery a trip to India where Bond takes on an Indian prince, then the Soviets pop up with a plan to attack western Europe.Bond then fights people in a circus in Germany before diffusing a nuclear bomb. The whole thing is very long and jumps about all over the place..

Martin B (es) wrote: Still in 1966 the view upon historic events is of course messed up. The british saw it as only natural to divide and conquer Africa as they pleased and in this movie, only to make things more confusing, the british help out their alley egypt to their part of the prey of Africa (Sudan). Just a few years efter this, Egypt itself gets colonized by the very Great Britain. So there is this agyptian outpost in Sudan called Khartoum which is filled with egyptians and some europeans. The rest of the land around is in the hands of upcoming revelutionary muslim star Mahdi. The british won't really have anything with this affair to do with those odds and sends General Gordon to the site to supervise the evacuation of important people, but he's got his own ideas and stays and defend the city in the upcoming attack.Gordon played by american superstar Heston actually makes a more low key performance than usual and even though the movie is a bit "talkie" and of course historically incorrect it is based upon real events and is really interesting .Actions scenes in the end of the movie is quite good with a big budget for it's time.
