Could it be the ghost of the man responsible for the historic tragedies or is a serial killer on the loose?"It's a disease of the mind, not ghosts."Kim Dae-seung, director of Bungee Jumping of Their Own, Traces of Love, and The Concubine, delivers Blood Rain. The storyline for this picture is very unique and well done. The kill scenes were excellent and the acting was solid, but the character development could have been better. The cast includes Cha Seung-Won, Park Yong-woo, Ji Seong, and Yun Se-ah."Like your father, hiding your shame with brutality."This was a fascinating and unique take on the genre. There was a nice mix of detective drama, samurai, and gruesome murders. I really felt this was a thorough picture; however, I wasn't wrapped up in the characters as I would have liked to have been. Overall, this is definitely a worthwhile picture that is borderline worth adding to your DVD collection."You are thinking dangerous thoughts."Grade: B

Bob Cummings has his moments as an egotistical star although the thought of him as a major romantic idol is a bit of a stretch. The major flaw as it always is in any film in which he appeared is that cinematic black hole Yves Montand. At least in his English language films he is so devoid of personality and charisma that he stops the picture dead in it's tracks whenever he is on screen. Also the fact that his character doesn't recognize his wife in geisha makeup when she looks exactly like Shirley MacLaine in a black wig and heavy makeup make him seem like a nitwit.
