Homemade Hillbilly Jam
Hillbillies haven't died off; they've simply become neo-hillbillies. Three families of musicians in the Ozark Mountains of Southwestern Missouri give new meaning to the word "hillbilly". Float down the backwaters, soak up some old time religion, savor a washboard duel, and bask in the neon lights of the pseudo-hillbilly showtown Branson. Lean back and merge into hillbilliness.

(jp) wrote: I can't lie, I didn't give this film a fair amount of attention when I caught it on television around midnight. But that wouldn't have been an issue if it was more captivating, innit? Floyd Mutrux's directing ability was decent, he seemed to be able to coach the performers into their roles quite well. Then again, the script didn't feature the deepest personas in cinema either. In fact, they were pretty much all the typical personalities you'd find in a teen flick like this. It brought some intriguing perspective regarding the issues of '65 in the U.S. for graduates, but overall the plot wasn't that interesting.

(ag) wrote: A mystic death of a diplomatic turns into a kidnapping, and becomes a violent gunfight at the very end. Despite the sappy beginning, the gunfight is just breathtaking and suspenseful. The devilish Peter Lorre is magnificent!
(kr) wrote: It plays with stereotypes, but it's not (intentionally) racist. It's a product of its time (which is a dark time in our nation's history). It's also, however, not very good. The animated bits are pretty good, but the live-action bits are, altogether, boring.
(it) wrote: Not only is this movie unfunny but worse still, it can't decide what it wants to be. Funny? Dramatic? Or more often, just nasty.
